Twd won't start

Bought the game from Steam yesterday. Downloaded and installed normally, but the game won't start. It simply won't do anything. It doesn't matter if I try to start it from Steam or hard drive.
Have tried all the usual suspects, verifying game cache, no blocking in firewall, running as admin, compatibility mode etc. It's hard to troubleshoot since absolutely nothing happens. Task manager shows nothing running when I try to start it. all other games run fine.
Running Windows 8, Nvidia 670GTX, I3 processor.
Please help

    The same has occured to me today and I have done all the things Shaggrock wrote on his post. I try to run TWD on a Toshiba Qosmio with windows 8

    Ok, I've fixed it... seems strange but the problem was the xbox controller connected to PC. I've disconnected it, launch the game and it runs properly

    Turns out I had the same, weird problem. Disconnecting Xbox controller helped. Ty, Goblin!
