Back to the Future "Bug Plant" Bug

So I finally got to play Back to the Future and I enjoyed almost every minute of it. I'm currently at the cabin in episode 5. Only one catch - I do not have the bug plant. After recording the phone call I put it back because I thought I might have to use it one more time there. That never happend and I simply forgot it there.

Now I do not have a savegame BEFORE the cabin. Is there any way to resolve this problem OTHER than starting all over again?

    Unfortunately unless you have an available save game from before dropping the bug plant, you will need to restart the episode to progress. I greatly apologize for this issue.

    Why isn't this fixed yet? The problem is very old and still exists.

    I've played through it one more time but I'm seriously disappointed.

    We are not currently planning any updates for our older games at this time.
