  • No the Tell Tale game is completely different from the comics. It follows a different group of survivors trying to survive in the apocalypse apart from a few cameos in the first few episodes of the game.

  • The game is not based on any actual story from the comics - it just takes place in the same world.

(Or did, until Telltale made it non-canon)

  • But they said its based on roberts kirkmen comic book series so ????

  • That means it takes place in the same world, the zombie virus works in the same way, and some of the comic characters are introduced in this game.

But they said its based on roberts kirkmen comic book series so ????

  • It's a little hard to explain. But the game, comics and TV show all have the same origins (hence the 'based on'), but don't they don't all take place at the same time in the same universe.

A little bit like how the Marvel films are similar to the comics, but aren't in-canon with them.

  • Wait.. I've been out of the loop for a little bit but is Telltale's TWD no longer Canon with the comic? And if so then why?

  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_(video_game). On this link they said it takes place in the same fictional world as a comic, with events occurring shortly after the onset of zombies apocalypse in georgia. Kirkman provided oversight (nigrani, roman) for the game story to ensure it corresponded to the tone of comic ,but allowed tell tale to handle the bulk of developmental work and story specifics ...
If its story not based on comic but the story based on comic kind of .. The tell tale complete the volume 1 into game and said it the walking dead game season 1 so there are 20 volumes so their will be 20 seasons may be

  • Kevin Bruner, the founder and co-owner of Telltale games, said the following in a REDDIT discussion:

My canon comment was supposed to be about The Wolf Among Us (which IS canon in the Fables universe), not The Walking Dead, which is obviously NOT canon.

So yeah, game's not canon with the comic any more.

That really sucks. Having the game canon to the comic really added to it. It made it more real then the TV show which IMO wrecked TWD. Only upside to this I guess Is Telltale is free to do whatever they want and they don't have to worry about a timeline or creating plot holes, I just prey they never bring anyone like Rick, the Governor, or Daryl into the game :P
