    Well, it's directly lifted from Season 1, Episode 3, so I don't know that they were looking as far as the sequel at the time.

    That said, the message he was giving Lee was quite the opposite of what you seem to have taken away from it - the point is that she's NOT different because she's a little girl, and that trying to insulate her from the world and try to give her some sort of normal childhood will just end up getting her killed, because she can't be treated any differently than any other living person.

    I don't much care for his philosophy on the subject, frankly.
