Steam

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

Can I get a definitive answer for all to see please TT. I played Season 1 on Steam and also 400 days. Now If I buy this game on GMG.com It says I need a TT account to register a code they send. Will my Steam save carry over seen as its in My documents? Are Steam keys sold via steam only this time round?

Thankyou.

Regarding save files, I'm not entirely sure since I have not bought any game from GoG. However, if my experience with switching in between a Telltale Store and Steam version of Season 1 is similar, then the save files are shared in between whichever store's version of the game you launch.

  • I believe they will. I say this because with TWAU, I first downloaded and played using the Telltale Store (after buying a key through GMG) and then got a Steam version and was playing that and it recognized my previous saves. So yeah, it should. Telltale has started selling keys to redeem copies on their own site recently through third party sites like GMG and, I think, Amazon, etc. So yes to that question too. Only way to get a Steam key is through purchasing on Steam (or if you are lucky you can ask Telltale support and they MIGHT give you a Steam key).

It's been confirmed that the different versions of the game use the same save file.

So if you bought Season 1 through Steam and Season 2 through GreenManGaming (or Telltale themselves, since they're the same version), then you will be able to use the same save file in both.

And for the record - Telltale won't just give you a Steam key if you ask them nicely. They'd need a seriously good reason to hand out Steam keys (like, say, the launch of the game got botched, and that's hardly likely to happen a THIRD time).
