Why is season 2 unlocking so late?
According to steam it unlocks in 21 hours..So thats 12pm est seems late to especially for an highly anticipated game.

there aren't spoilers on that link, just the fact that the page was published on todays date (16/12/2013), and the title states that ep 2 drops on pc, xlba and psn "today". Although no other information seems to support that

Online retailers have to contend with time zone differences. What's midnight in one area might be earlier or later than another. Release it at midnight EST will result in it being out 4 hours earlier the day before on the west coast. It's not fair because one side of the country technically got it earlier. So better to release it when it's more fair for everyone which typically ends up about noon EST or PST. Fair being the game is released on the same day and not some get it on the release day and some the day before. I've only seen one online retailer that deals with games release at midnight and they release at midnight PST. That happens to be BigFish Games. If you want a game early, get it from a brick and mortar store and hope they put it out early or at least do a midnight release.
Most online retailers also only update their stores and thus release games at specific times in the day or week. Rare do they update the store to release a game outside that window.
