Transferring Saves to next gen?

I played the whole season of telltales walking dead and even 400days, but I was wondering how does save transfer work? I played it on my xbox 360, but sold it last week and got an xbox one. Do I have to redownload all episodes on my xbox one again and replay all them?

    Telltale hasn't even said they will be making Season 2 for Xbox one or PS4 yet. And save transfers only work for devices that have save files from season 1 and 400 days.

    Off topic but I'm just curious why would you get rid of an old console for a new one that doesn't even have backwards compatibility? Not judging I've just read about multiple people doing this and I can't understand why.

    I hope they come out with an Xbox one version and can play all the seasons and 400 days on the new consoles. I played it on xbox 360 but I didn't know it wouldn't transfer over. I assumed you can recover your old gamer tag on the ext gen and everything would transfer over, an continue with the story progression by downloading season 2 for next gen, but that seems very unlikely.
