Will you replay season 2?

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

Just a casual discussion topic as we await the release of season 2...

I played Season 1 all the way through ( I got it after all episodes were out) and then went back and replayed it again later making choices as different as possible from the first time. I didn't see that my choices affected all that much of the plot, but they did affect the general feeling about the game and the characters.

Therefore, I think I'm not going to play through Season 2 again after I've completed it. Making different choices doesn't affect enough of the plot to make it worth it, but it kind of ruins the first playthrough by allowing you to see behind the curtain a bit. I'd rather remember the characters as i came to know them in my first playthrough rather than have conflicting views based on multiple playthroughs and a general sense of disillusionment due to having noticed the gears of the game turning.

  • I don't think so. I can't bear to make "bad" decisions as Clem. I could tolerate them with Lee and Bigby, though.

  • It depends on where the story goes, to be honest.

Probably not though - not unless there's a split choice (like at the end of TWAU with who to catch).

  • well , i think i would , because what we chose in season 1 , does affect on season 2 , may wanna see how was the outcome and effect on clementine .

  • I always replay every episode. I like to use all my saves lol. I consider my first run through my canon and the other playthroughs never ruin the experience for me. I can separate them in my mind. As involved as I get in the story, I never forget that I am playing a game so I dont mind "looking behind the curtain"

  • I wouldn't hold out much hope of things being drastically different, because we all know how it works (often), but they have said they want to try and include more branching for season 2. So, hopefully, things will be better even if it's not a big improvement and there's not a tonne of variety. But yeah, like I said, I wouldn't hold out much hope of it. I like Telltale as a company, but I get a bit tired of companies in general claiming that their games have branching paths and the changes are minimal.

One thing though that I would like to say about season1, which is something I felt was pretty cool (very small thing but still), you know that moment in episode 3 at the start where you're walking down the street with Kenny? Just after the first conversation choice, I think, depending on your relationship with him, he'll either look at you and shake his head or he'll look at you normally.

It's a very small thing, doesn't change much, but next to the different dialog and such, it was nice they included a small touch such as that. Again though, it doesn't make much difference.

  • Yes, that is the type of thing I was actually talking about when I said that it changes my experience and my perception of the relationship with the characters. They did a very good job of that. That's kind of the reason that I don't want to play it again. I don't want to see what he would do otherwise. I want to experience the relationship kind of as if it were real and then turning around and seeing the guts of the game by trying to manipulate it on purpose by making different choices kind of ruins it for me. I wish I hadn't replayed it actually.

I guess I kind of look at this game more as a graphic novel than a game. If you go back and re-read a graphic novel you really enjoyed and something different happens (but not quite different enough to be new and interesting) it's really just annoying.
