Congrats to David Eggers...

edited September 2008 in General Chat
Hey there, Telltalians. Hope I'm not out of line by posting this...

I'd like to send a 'congratulations' out to David 'Metallus' Eggers who has just joined the Telltale gang as a Web Production Artist. As someone who has benefited from your talent, I'm really glad that you've been recognised in this way. Telltale is lucky to have you!

David rocks! Doug and I worked with him for many years on various web projects, and it rules that he's here.

Also, the web team was recently improved with the addition of the also-excellent Gary Lu, hailing from 1up.com's design team.

You will be able to see both of their work in a bunch of stuff we haven't released yet!

Another benefit from this: Jake now has time for sleep. And showering. And for that, we're all grateful.

Sounds cool... Is this the same Dave Eggers as wrote "Heartbreaking work of staggering genius"? That was a great book, but shame to say I haven't read any of his other work yet...

Hey! Thanks! Sorry I showed up late to my own thread.

No, I didn't write those books. Feel free to give me your review of them if you want, though.

Hey, cool, a name I vaguely recognize! (You probably wouldn't know me, though.)

On checking out the Staff page in its current form, I notice that among other things, Nick's been promoted to chores, Heather's gone, and you have a new female programmer. How things have changed. Also, Doug needs to pester more people to write bios.

The only significant things I know about David is that he made Nightlight Productions the green glory that it is, was addicted to 'Puzzle Pirates' for many years, and has (unfortunately for the many people it annoys) contributed the word 'heh' to my online vocabulary.

The question is, will the famed auteur stop playing puzzle pirates for long enough to be useful?

Man, so many Mixnmojo/Idle-T/Adventure Gamers people work for this place now. It is almost inbred or something.

Hey, I speak fluent PHP and fluent artspeak (I can refer to something as "postmodern realism" and mean it), I have a degree in paint, can work photoshop with my eyes closed and arms tied behind my back, I almost sortof have a world-renown comic book to my name—has that concept artist position been filled?

Having met Met, I can tell you that you're likely mispronouncing the "heh". It is closer to the Jon Stewart impersonation of George Bush cackling than the dry, cynical too-cool-foor-school "heh" that I initially took it for. And that too is a bad description. It is not inherently gleeful like the JS/GWB thing so much as satisfied and introspective.
  • edited June 2008
I never actually pronounce it, I just type it, heh. :D

    Heh.

    Congrats, Metallus!

Huzzah for Telltale bringing in members of the community. I've known David for probably like a decade online or something.

(I'm GodzillaX8 on IRC, if any of you remember me from #m-i, I've barely been there in the last 5 years though)

Aw man, I was hoping it was like the old one. I haven't played a good top down shooter in a long time.
