TWD Season 2: Steam Keys and Server Mess

Look Telltale, I understand the tricky part in this situation, you don't have Steam keys, ok, but you are handling this very, very poorly. Both the server problems AND the steam keys issue can be solved by giving your customers Steam keys, so talk to Valve, and find a way to give out those keys. Sure, you want people to use your distribuiton method, I understand, but do you think that this first experience will make people come back to it? Because after this, if I don't get my Steam key, I know I'll buy it directly from Steam, no matter the discounts.

So, do everyone a favor and give out the Steam keys, fix the servers; that way we'll play your game, and your distribution method will work, everybody wins this way, and I'm sure giving out repeated vague responses isn't helping, at all.

This is what I posted in another thread. Then I found out the user cyanpepper got a Steam Key:

I understand the policy might have changed, but the users weren't made aware of that, and you changed the policy AFTER the game launched, apparently. Besides, if you gave a user a key, you shouldn't treat other users differently; even if it's legal, it really doesn't paint a good image of Telltale Games.

I see an unfair treatment of users, and I honestly think your company would be much better viewed if you were willing to give out those keys, since I am 100% that many people have decided not to use TTG to buy games again, using Steam instead, including me, if we are treated with such vague responses and unfair treatment.

Comments

  • I will be reversing the charge on my credit card if I do not get a Steam key, just a heads up.

Be reasonable about your customer service. Your agenda is not more important than your customers.

  • I understand that tell tale may not have a huge support service but if i got get action within the usual 3-5 days of a suport ticket being sent i will most certainly be encouraging my friends to use steam.

  • They could get around the key debacle by adding a redeem steamkey function to a linked steam account like humble bundle has so there's no "extra" keys floating around, I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement but it would prevent alot of seriously annoyed customers,
