Sam
What else can be said? Fuck this ungrateful furry bastard. I wish Clem had the additional option of peeing on this evil animal's body after slicing its throat open.
Sorry, dogs that suddenly go bad just get under my skin. Still, I can't help wondering if Sam's behaviour was a bit...over the top. You know, shocking and hateful strictly for the sake of being shocking and hateful. If this guy was starving, wouldn't he have simply attacked Clem on sight? Or was he one of those temperamental asshole dogs who just snap without warning if you get between them and a meal?
It's a shame we'll probably never find anything out about Sam's owner. A dog that's ready to kill a child is usually the result of a bad upbringing paired with starvation. Sam might have been trained as a guard prior to the zombie outbreak, and it just took a few days without food to turn him into another monster. I've heard true stories about dogs who have died under similar circumstances, but didn't resort to attacking humans for food. A dog's inclination towards aggression can also vary depending on its breed.

I'm really sure "Sam" is supposed to be a reference to Sam and Max since theres a Banang reference you can find inside the house while you're eating
Oh also isn't there a telltale pet named "Sam The Dog"?
Totally agree Robert, Fuck Sam. That asshole tried to kill me after I was giving him food! I feel no sympathy for that damn dog.
When Sam got impaled, I felt really upset. I even chose to put it out of it's misery, only because I was concerned about its whining attracting walkers.
It managed to break me down emotionally. Almost about as much as when Lee died. I've got 2 pet dogs too...
Hey hey, calm down. I mean, I'm upset that Clemy got hurt >:( , but it's a dog. Like Clem said, the van looked like it had been there for a long time, so that means so has the dog. Sam had to survive, and being cute and friendly didn't catch it's meal everyday. The walkers wouldn't feel bad for it and give in to it's begging, the walkers were trying to kill him and make him their meal. I don't think the dog should've done that (I was so surprised and angry myself), but at the same time I can't really blame him that much. I put him out of his misery in the end. It was too cruel. ;_:
It was shocking but believable. Some dogs have triggers where they will attack without warning. A common trigger for those dogs is taking away their food bowl, which is basically what Clem does here.
As for the owner, I assumed he was the one tied to the tree.
I just assumed the owner was the walker we had to bash to get the pocket knife. The shirt certainly looked similar from the picture.
