  • I thought it looked like oatmeal with real blueberries. Now I only played through once so I only got a quick look at the food.

  • Porridge or cereal. Something along those lines.

  • ramen noodles

  • It was buckwheat kasha.

  • i don't know why people keep saying that it's human meat. These people have real food! They are giving away free juice boxes for god sakes!

How do these people have juice and cereal that's still good 2 years after the apocalypse? At this point their food shouldn't be coming from anything scavenged that isn't in a can.

  • Oatmeal? She didn't seem to be chewing or crunching that much, so it must be soft.

  • Juice stays good for a while when stored. And we don't know if it's cereal: I'm putting my bet on oatmeal.

  • The juice boxes in my cupboard last about 9 months, maybe this is the special long-lasting "Apple" brand!

Not sure this is an answer, but... According to eatbydate, unopened apple juice boxes last 2-3 months after their "use by date"... I have no idea what the normal "use by date" for them is though, but if zyoxo's 9months is normal (for when you first buy them), that only leaves a year.

"Use by dates" are super conservative though (think how Rick's group uses Baby Formula for Judith in the TV series, probably well after it's "use by date"), so I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that unopened juice in a sealed box could last 2-3 years (or even more).

If this group of survivors somehow stumbled upon a store of well-preserved food (in a hidden pantry/bunker), I guess the juice could still be okay... that would also explain what Clem might be eating in the kitchen scene with Nick, Luke, and Rebecca (i.e., maybe grains of some kind, properly stored like how preppers store food in buckets)

    example:

juicebox dilemma must be solved! I will search Google for the longest lasting Apple juice brand!

so there will be a time where there's no longer preserved food in TWD universe since it's no longer produced?

  • Yeah, there's a reason Rick is trying to raise pigs and grow crops in the TV series and Boyd from "400 days" is growing plants. You can see how hard it is to come by food for Lee and Kenny (when scavenging), and when Lilly makes Lee give out food. There are still probably plenty of well-hidden caches all around, but finding them will be a matter of luck (as most of the obvious locations are probably picked clean).

This is one of the reasons I'm puzzled about why this new group seems so well equipped and seems pretty well settled into this house. Makes me wonder if they stole supplies from Carver before running away.
