Is Alvin going to be the "Kenny" of S2?
I'm not speaking in terms of character arc or development, but the duration of his survival throughout the season. When we first meet Alvin, he seems to come across as a timid, spineless man; he's easily dominated by his wife, even to the point of allowing a young girl to possibly freeze to death in a rickety old shack.
But the conversation at the window indicates another aspect to Alvin's personality which has rich potential for later episodes...assuming Telltale doesn't slaughter him in part 2, of course. As the group goes through trial after trial and their numbers dwindle, Alvin could step up and become the default leader when circumstances conspire against them. They say fate makes heroes of fools; maybe the same will be said about Alvin?
What do you think? Will we see Alvin make it all the way to episode 4, or even 5?

He seems too timid to really step into that leadership role. I think it's more likely that Luke steps up now with Pete dead (or soon to be dead).
It might be too early to say much about any of the new characters and what they're capable of until we see more of them but Alvin did let an 11 year old girl talk him into helping her when he knew it wasn't what his wife or the group wanted to do. I think Alvin has to stick around at least for a little while because of the baby drama but I don't see him stepping up in a big way.
Conversation at the window? Am I missing something here?
I really hope it's Luke
When Clem convinces him to help her.
I missed it on my first playthrough too.
You have to go up to one of the windows before entering the house, and you can see alvin and rebecca arguing. You then have to listen to them, and having done that, knock on the window.
You converse with Alvin and he eventually gives you some bandages and some apple juice.
I thought you were going to say something completely different about Kenny lol. But as for Alvin, I dont see him stepping up like that either. He's a nice guy but way too soft. That seems like too big a change.
Before releasing the board to sneak in right? That's strange. I checked all the windows and never had that happen, All I got was Clem struggling to open them.. Otherwise I was glitched or something... had that weird ghost glitch when entering the house.. huh...
I think Luke will be the Lee of S2. He's so nice to her.
Although for the sake of speculation he could step up and change if something were to happen to Rebecca.
He just doesnt seem like the leader type. He doesnt have that commanding presence. With Lee, you could understand why people wanted to follow him but with Alvin, Im sure that if his wife and child was in danger he would do what was necessary but the way that he just backed off in the issue about Clementine, like a whipped puppy, that bothered me. I understand not wanting to make waves with your pregnant wife but a child's life was on the line. But who knows? We still have a lot of story left to see. If he stands up, I'll be the gladder for it.
I'm guessing Luke is going to be the main companion character for season 2, in the same role that Kenny was.
At this point just about everyone likes Luke. Other than dropping Clem (not exactly unreasonable), he's been nothing but kind to Clementine. I'm going to assume that a lot of players will have a falling out with him at some point in the next episode or two. After episode 1, almost everyone liked Kenny. That changed in episode 2.
I don't see him steping up because he's a stereotype black man. He's scared of his lady. I miss Lee.
Yeah I agree for the most part. I think if he has his moment it's more likely to be something like Rebecca and the baby get killed and it crushes him until he flips out later on and does something (like kill someone) for the good of the group but probably dying himself in the process.
Alvin is probably the Doug of the group he has good intentions but won't speak up and get involved in group politics. I think we will see a darker side of him in the season if Rebbeca dies or the baby isn't his. The pudgy bubbly guy of the group might end up being this hardcore no nonsense survivor.
Alright. Thanks man! I'll try that out soon.
I agree. I won't say Luke is un-killable but I think he's safe for the time being and will be Clem's main supporter in the group.
You'd know the right window when you see it, the curtains are open and you can see the pair of them in there.
Clem is not his kid, also stereotype.
Alvin will hopefully have a bigger role, but I can't see him becoming the next Kenny, that's a bit far-fetched.
I want to say that I don't have a crush on Luke but I can't (me as in me personally, not clementine haha :P )
I just hope he doesn't pull a Kenny or Lilly and murder a member of the group
Did you really just say that? You are saying that he is giving into his lady bases on race? It might be, just might be the fact that she is pregnant and he is trying to support her? He could be any other race and still do the same thing. Don't apply racism to places that it isn't there. I also can't remember this stereotype applying to black men at all.
I didn't say racism, you did. i said stereotype.
Everyone on this forum right now
*facepalm *
No problem I really enjoyed the scene, was gutted that I didn't get it in my canon playthrough.
Huh?
I don't know. Sometimes I think that he will have a Carley/Doug death if he dies.
Seems to me like Carlos was the actual leader, but Pete had a large say in what happens.
Anyway, I can see Alvin either breaking down or going into an implosive-personality-rage if the baby turns out to not be his (we know it won't be, otherwise it wouldn't be a plot point.)
Oh Boy........
Bad things happen to nice people, unfortunately.
Examples; Carley, Doug, Katjaa, Lee, Pete, Omid, Christa.
I think he'll pull a Kenny and die to save the others. Then again that seems like more of a Pete thing to do.
I wasn't trying to say hes un-killable. I just predict that Clem (and by extension) will be devastated when he dies near the end of the season.
What are you even doing here? You can always join an anti-racist group in college and discuss with other dykes about how racist everyone is and that TTG is a nazi company blablabla...
Oh no I didn't think you were suggesting it either I was just speaking out loud.
Carlos may be the leader or he may be the leader by default now. Regardless, Pete was definitely A leader if not THE guy.
I could see a scenario playing out where we never find out whose baby it is (I.e if Rebecca dies while pregnant), or if Alvin dies before we find out then it's sort of a moot point.
