Hold up, where's the spark?
Before I start I want to let you all know that this is a civilized discussion, just pure The Walking Dead discussion. Do not hate on someone's opinions or fan-base on this thread. No negativity will be very helpful. Thank you.
I see a lot of people saying "I just don't feel the spark like we did in season 1" or "this doesn't feel right at all, it's not like season 1" I have my valid reason here.
Maybe it's because Lee's gone? Maybe because Clementine is a total bada** now? Or maybe it's not about the gameplay or storylines. Maybe.. it's the sound tracks.
Now, yes. This might sound silly, but this is what's got me not 'feeling the feels' of season 1. The soundtracks, when dialogue is occurring we don't have the soundtrack to remember us of season 1. In fact, there's hardly any sound track at all. I've always loved those soundtracks and the good days where Clementine's dialogue wasn't practically screaming "CARL!". It gives us that touch, that nice feeling of when Lee had his dialogue. But hold up, it's not just the dialogue. It's also the "uh oh! gotta make a decision" moments.
Well, that's all I got to say. But let me make myself clear, I'm not saying the reason why some people don't like Season 2 is because of the soundtrack. There's also many other reasons why your opinion is different to mine.

The first episode of season 2 was absolutely everything I hoped it to be. It was shorter however, if you look at season 1 it had a lot more puzzle solving which filled time. I don't want to compare Season 1 Ep 1 to Season 2 Ep 1 as both were awesome. I'm hooked already!
You make a good point, but don't you want it to feel more The Walking Dead like? Like how to game sounded before season 1 hit the shelves?
Deleted. My tablet messed up and posed the same reply a few times.
Good point, but I what about the sad music that season 1 had?

For me it is because the gameplay is too linear and the exploration aspect of the game is gone.
The game as literally bathroom. Check out 3 stalls.. Interaction. Death... Time jump..........conversation ..... Start a fire...decide to throw rock... Run.. Bite. Fall in river..... Wake up...walk straight..walk straight more... Find dog.. After all that finally you get a small exploration task near the run down camp site. It was extremely small and most the stuff was junk. You got bite by the dog...... Met the group.... Argued with the group..
Another small task in the shed..... Explore the cabin what had maybe 15 clickable actions. I'm not counting the 9 windows that each one was closed.
Do the stitches thing,
Talk to group.
Get bitched at by Carlos about his daughter.
Tell off Rebecca.
Walk to fish traps.
Find dead people.
The end of ep 1.
Come on it was very a to b to c to d and way to small. Gone are the large searchable levels where you could do whatever you wanted any way you wanted.
Maybe because it was a very depressing beginning ( omid's death )
it was beautiful more than sad
All good.
Sorry I don't understand your question (Sorry), however I felt like it was defiantly a good take on The Walking Dead universe because of the big question "Who can you trust?". That is the big question for me and I think that is a realistic representation of The Walking Dead universe. A good example is St Johns. They seemed like such normal people but we all know how that turned out lol
I absolutely loved the episode but it's by no means perfect. I can't really comment on the soundtrack though, I've listened to it on youtube and it sounds very similiar to season 1. Then again I haven't played that in a while so I don't quite remember.
Soundtrack aside, I think that season 1 and 2's first episodes are going to have a different feeling to them simply because they are different.
Season 1 had the strength of allowing us to see the development of the apocalypse from the start, with its progression reflected through its strong buildup and steadily increasing tension of the situations and characters involved.
Season 2 essentially starts out on the apex of the disparity that season 1 built up to, so everything opens up in a different manner. I don't think that this has to make season 2 automatically weaker, but it is going to have a different feeling starting out.
In the end, All That Remains was just setting the stage. I'm hoping for more exploration and slower-paced moments in future episodes, but think Clementine shows a lot of potential as protagonist.
I think the new season started very well. I really enjoyed the action moments and dialogues (especially the one at the table, where we had a chance to explore Clem's conscience about Lee's fate). I didn't notice anything about the soundtrack though, I think it was okay. Oh and by the way, I don't think Clem was a total bada** but she was just able to handle herself better now, as she should be. I was quite happy to see that actually, after all, in last season with Lee, we taught her how survive, how to take care of herself. She's just more capable as a survivor now (also note that she's older now, getting stronger and smarter) So seeing her like that was a relief for me, I think Lee would be proud too. Anyway, 2nd Season definitely has a different feeling, but I think it's intended that way. Pretty sure things will get more interesting starting episode 2.
I agree, this is exactly how I felt. The reason why I posted this topic is because I see pointless arguments happening over the fact that season 2 wasn't good. Which it actually was, well, in our opinion. Thanks for not insulting me about it.
I think most people that say that "spark is gone" is because its brutal. Through whole 1 season you had clem and clem had you. It was unconditional love. It was sweet and brutal. Now its just dark, brutal, pure survival. Clem has no one. Omid could bring some of the sweetness back but they kill him and set the tone for whole season i think.
First of all, this is a great topic to start.
In my opinion, yes, Season 2 does differ from Season 1, regarding the first Episode.
But I think this is okay, if not necessary. WIth Season 1, you were thrown into the zombie apocalypse, playing an african-american man on his way to prison on the count of murder. You didn's know shit, to be honest. S1E1 aimed at getting you familiar with everything, Lee, Clementine, the Group, Kenny and his Godstache. It built itself from the ground up, making connections, establishing attachment. With S2E1 most of this is not needed. You know more about Clementine than is said in most other Videogames. You know, well, you TAILORED her past, TAILORED how she was emotionally raised by Lee. You made her who she is today. So there is no need for a lengthy introduction. Sure, the Group around Luke and Pete needs introduction, and there I think Episode 1 has its flaws. For I think to know too little about them than I'd like to admit. But I'm sure this "getting familiar" will come in Episode 2.
But to get back to topic here: I agree that Season 2 took a different approach at kick-starting itself, but I however do not think that this approach was in any way wrong, or dislikeable.
I myself can honestly say that I am happy with what Episode 1 has been and that I'm looking forward to playing Season 2 until the end, and probably having my heart broken in the process.
Playing Ep.6 (S2 Ep.1), I really noticed how Lee was not there. I know he's dead but it feels so strange without Lee.
