Debug mode?

edited July 2008 in Sam & Max
SINCE most new areas in Sam and Max are accessed through portals and cars why not let people download the urban area of Sam and Max season 3 for free and even give the source so that people could do mods to it easily.

Then you would not have re download the urban area again thus giving more space for new content in each episode and it wouldn't matter which episode you download since they will be Wads and all of them would have been tested in the debug mode.

And you have to admit giving the source code of the urban area would be fun since you can change the dialogs of each character, paint the town another color and maybe make that train in the urban area ride able.

    Uhm...

    That's a pretty tall request...

Any anyway, file size doesn't matter so much that they'd use one version of the cityscape. Even if they did, it would make it hard for the separate episodes to be unique on the streets. Besides, they haven't even started work on Season 3. As for modding, that's even less likely. Telltale tool modifications are even further away than Sam & Max: Season 3, as far as I know. Riding the train would take a lot more than basic modding, too...

So in short, this isn't happening. I don't like abandoning hope, but this really isn't possible, sorry. :(

Can't telltale make their telltale tool a commercial engine for an expensive price?

Sure, we'll stop developing games and get right on that.

I fail to see what's wrong with the way things are done now. Sure there are common files in each episode, but seperating these out sounds like much more trouble than it would ever be worth and more complicated for the end user. Each episode is meant to be a standalone game that isnt dependant on any other episodes to function. Say someone just wanted to try episode 1, with Tom's idea they would have to download and install the episode as well as a second universal file that holds the office, street, Bosco's, etc. For someone not computer savy, this could be more than they could wrap their brains around.
