Lee's Photo and Clem's Drawing

edited December 2013 in The Walking Dead

I'm sure this has been discovered but I replayed the first episode of season 2 and tried to burn Lee's picture and noticed that if you picked this option, you are interupted before you can toss it into the fire. I'm curious as to why it would give us the option to burn his photo if either way you end up keeping it. I think it might be significant later on, which lead to my theory.

What if someone you met or will meet knew Lee and recognizes him from the photo? Like maybe if you meet up with the 400 days characters, Russell was actually one of Lee's students or something. It could even be possible for us to meet Lee's wife in future episodes since she could still very much be alive, thus allowing us to learn more about Lee's past. It might be a long shot for it to be possible but it was just a crazy idea I had.

Also, maybe the drawing of Kenny's family could be important if you chose to keep it. Maybe, if Kenny returns, he has most likey grown cold and heartless because he lost everything, but showing him the drawing might cause him to have a change of heart. However if you chose to burn it, you won't have anything to remind him of what he had so he would continue to be cold.

What do you all think about the significance of these items?

  • I had the same idea about Lee's photo and, as long as Rebecca doesn't turn out to be Lee's ex-wife, I hope you are right.

  • Yeah, I posted this on Reddit. I completely agree.
Also, Rebecca being Lee's ex-wife... oh my.

  • damn that'd be one hell of a plot twist!

  • Is there any indication that she still has the photo? I figured she lost it in the river, as it's not in her inventory anymore.

  • I think the inventory is just a game mechanic where only items that are relevant for the current game objectives show up.

  • what happened if you tried to burn the Kenny drawing?

  • Haha! Well, Rebecca is obviously a cheater. That would make her look even worse if she was Lee's ex. She cheats on Lee and cheats on Alvin. Damn.

  • Lee killed senator for sleeping with his wife - what sane man will have affair with Rebecca? She's old, mean and ugly.

IMHO, Lee's wife was a young beautiful white woman. Whole story is a reference to OJ Simpson.

  • Depends on how old the senator was. I can only speak from my own experience, but the older I get the wider the range of the women I find attractive gets . :P

But I can only hope you are right. I certainly expect Lee's wife to be more sophisticated than Rebecca seems to be.

  • I know it's a game but I don't think Telltale would disregard the fact that Clem fell into the river and the fact that paper doesn't hold up well in water, much less what's on the paper.

  • But it was in video game inventory land, along with Lee's blowtorch.

  • I hope she will still have the photo of Lee in the next chapters, a bit crumpled-up and wet but It would be sad if she had lost the last photo of Lee.

  • I hope that it comes into play somehow. I know that stupid watch is going to come back and annoy me....

Did you post in the wrong thread? We talk about the drawing of Kenny´s family and Lee´s photo. :D

  • I really do hope you're right. That would be extremely cool to see someone who had a connection to Lee pre-apocalypse, especially an established character already - such as Russell, like you said. I doubt the possibility of meeting up with Lee's wife, though it's always possible, considering we know nothing about her fate post-Senator-murder. On the whole subject of Rebecca possibly being Lee's ex-wife, if you remember the scene in A New Day, when Lee and Clem are falling asleep in Hershel's barn, when Lee attempts to sleep, you hear a flashback to the murder scenario. You hear Lee's wife giggle and say, "I love you baby," then the smashing of glass and screaming, if memory serves correctly. The voice heard in that flashback is clearly not Rebecca's. At least, I don't think it is.

  • I think Lee's past, or someone from it is going to play a big part. For me the red flag was raised during the "Previously..." montage. Why did they show Larry saying he knew Lee was a killer? That fact never really came up too much in the first season, not enough for it to be mentioned when headed into season 2 especially when everything else seemed like big plot points or character building moments.

I'm pretty sure they're going to meet someone who knew Lee, it seems plausible it'd be his ex-wife or a student of his. Rebecca seems a likely candidtae, since we know that she's a cheater as was Lee's wife, but the idea that Russel was a student of his is a cool idea too. Heck, maybe Tavia was his ex-wife and will refuse Clementine into the settlement because of her connection to Lee?

  • Reading all this just makes me more excited for the next episode to be released, To me burning the picture of Lee would have been the 8th deadly sin so i'm actually glad it wasn't possible.

  • Great theories man. I like.

  • Tavia as Lee's ex-wife or Russel as a previous student!

ALL ON BOARD THE HYPE TRAIN!

  • They could even retcon it though

  • What about the watch? That stays in your inventory until the end and I haven't used it yet... Did I miss something??

I really wouldn't read too much into it.

For instance, in episode 4 of season 1 the map of Savannah never shows up in the inventory. But when Vernon asks for a map Lee pulls it out of his pocket.
