Dank

edited June 2012 in General Chat
Well I know there has been some talk here and there about dank and the comics on the site. Just thought I'd start a post devoted to the caveman inventor. There hasn't been much of an update in the past couple of weeks. I for one would like to see a semi daily dank. I still find the comic pretty hit and miss with humor but if they kept going with it I'm sure it'd get better. ( I almost gave up on it until I saw the comic with the bird) Also I don't think that is going to be the only comic either so hopefully we see some of the others soon too. So yeah I think it would be great if people posted some of their comments or suggestions for our caveman inventor

I think I'd start laughing at Dank more if they dropped his IQ down 100 points.

I think Dank has been freakin' hilarious. All of them.

same here. seems like alot of the comments made have been leaning more to the negative than the positive side. i've loved all of them so far though, so i hate myself for not leaving my comments.

I'm glad there are people who like Dank in all his glory. He's a great character with a lot of potential, but the comics just haven't been particularly funny for me (except for the bird-eating one). Of course, there have only been four so far. :p Maybe the humor is on a much deeper level, one that is so intelligent, it defies all understanding, even kicking Understanding in the groin and throwing sand in its eyes. Like Nancy .

Agreed. An idiotic inventor is definitely more interesting than a smart one.

I think Dank is pretty good. It's difficult to make a laugh-out-loud funny comic with only three or four panels. Although I agree that most of them are more along the lines of "gee, that's kind of clever" than "ha ha that so funny." There definitely worth the four seconds of my time they take to read.

I don't buy the 3 or 4 pannel excuse. Lots of comics can pull it off. Many only with one.

Fair enough, but there has only been four of them. The first four "Calvin & Hobbes" strips weren't that great either. Give hime some time to warm up to the character. It is only a little side project, after all.

I'd take clever-witty over laughoutloud-funny anyday, but maybe that's just me.

What would a dumb inventor invent?

    Piles of rocks?

    Reality TV?

Think more along the lines of a Wile E. Coyote. Inventions that fail and/or cause catastrophies. A nice Dank adventure would be where he finally gets one right, and it's an important one, earning the respect of his fellow cave dwellers in the process. I'm not trying to rewrite the character, just an opinion.

or maybe inventing something but using it totally wrong. Or finding some small invention and toally missing another really important one... but hey I'm happy with the eating birds

Wouldn't he need a toothbrush first?

    Exactly!! Thats the stupid bit.

well the last dank was very underwhelming.. remember bill and scooter from the terrible thunderlizards(eek the cat!) bill was always coming up with hilarious inventions.. i think dank may need someone else to play off..the comedy just isnt there

I miss Dank/Dunk. It's also interesting reading these comments from when the comic was only a few comics old. It definitely got way more interesting since then (about 10 comics or so later). Comic 18 is where it really picked up steam (which is rather odd (or ironic in an Alanis Morissette way) considering the content of that strip). :D

Dank/Dunk was so close to 200, man! So close!
