An antagonist for season 2

I always thought, and this is stated by many other people, that TWD is not exclusively about zombies, but rather how the current state of the world changes people. Also, this seemed to be TT aim from the beginning of the series.

Now, as you may have guessed from the title, i think we need an antagonist for season 2. We definitely had our share of threats back in S1: The St. John brothers, the whole Crawford thing... But in my opinion, we need a constant threat, Maybe introduced in ep 2 lasting through episode 5.

From what we can see so far, it appears Carver will be the baddie this season. But, going back to 400 days with the whole Tavia business and their community it kinda makes sense we will bump into them at some point, right? Me, personally i think it provides a golden opportunity to introduce a Governor/Negan villain. Calm, persuasive, charming and charismatic on the outside, but inside... Well you kinda get the idea by now.I'm aware some people might not be too thrilled about this whole thing, but i think it can be done in a good and original way.

Bear in mind, this is just a suggestion. I think this season will be great either way. I just think it can't hurt to have a constant threat other than walkers on your back.
So, what do you think?

  • Lily would be perfect as an antagonist is my opinion.

  • I think something done twice under the same name (TWD) is hard to do originally. I like the lack of characters I have already seen.

  • a Governor/Negan villain. Calm, persuasive, charming and charismatic on the outside, but inside...

To me, your description sounds like Nate from 400 Days. Speaking of Nate, they probably wouldn't build up an antagonist so much only to not include him in Season 2.

Season 1 showed that you don't need a constant antagonist in this setting. The show especially really drives this home with how horrible the entire governor arc was in comparison to season 1 where they were just wandering aimlessly and trying to survive.

  • Becca should lead the other group and has a catfight with Clemetine

  • I thought about that too. And considering the tv show did it recently, some people might find it repetitive.

  • Nate isn't what i really had in mind tbh. Although i should mention i had the governor persona from the tv show in mind when i said that, not the comics one. Also, it would be interesting to Nate make an appearance, i kinda liked the guy....

  • i hope nate dies in season 2 . he would do terrible things to my clem

  • Becca seems like she'd be Clementine's equivalent of Kenny. She can like or dislike Clem depending on what choices she makes.

  • I would actually be against yet another charming but sociopathic despot running a community and raping babies as a hobby so we all know to hate him and hope he dies. I hope Carver, if he indeed becomes the central antagonist of the season, actually represents how two groups who are both rather sympathetic in their goals can nevertheless be pitted against one another within the context of a world of scarce resources, where one group often can only survive at the expense of another.

  • Nate seems like a secondary antagonist to me, like Merle was to the Governor in the TV series. Though I could see him leading a group of bandits... if this 'Troy' fellow isn't actually Carver then Nate could be Carver and Troy could be his Right hand man.

  • Nate, Maybe Lilly or Kenny under the right circumstances. They seem to be trying to set up Carver as the villan but who knows if he really is one.

  • Did you just put Negan and charming in the same post ? I have to question your sanity :D

I think it'd be pretty cool yeah, Nate fills the "crazy" part but somehow... I don't really think he's the pure villain 400 Days wanted us to believe he was. We'll see !

  • They've already set up Carver to be the Big Bad of most of the season, from what it seems. I don't think whoever is running Tavia's community would be a bad person like Negan or the Gov, just another person trying to keep their community alive. Nate wouldn't be the main villain. He's to unstable for that, I think. I DO hope he shows up again though.

  • I think Shel would be like female lee for clementine

  • I still don't understand how the TV Series managed to fuck up one of the best arcs in the comics...

But at least I can enjoy Negan right now ^^

  • Antagonist is someone who want harm and pose a threat to the protagonist .In other word Nate,Roman,Larry,Lilly,The stranger the bandits who were with Winston, the dog,Rebecca,The walkers are antagonist. What are you looking for is the MAIN or MAJOR antagonist to fuck your world just like the stranger.

In other word,Carver possible BUT the main antagonist the TWDU is humanity testing you all all the time

And Ben wasn't an antagonist he was a threat but he didn't any harm
