Clementine is what made the game. She made even non gamers fall in love with gaming. Genius!

To think that Clementine almost didn't exist... I read an article that said she was supposed to have a brother initially and that TTG considered dropping her character, or at least lessening her role. In the end, they made the right choices. I've never cared so deeply for pixels on a screen as I did for Lee and Clementine.
Season 1 Clementine was somewhat cute, yes. S2 Clem is not so much.
Yes, Clementine is cute. But more than that, as a character she's pretty much perfectly formulated to make you want to protect her at all costs.
She could almost be a kind of shorthand for something that needs to be kept safe. Playing a tower defence game? Your main base could be a picture of Clem's face and everyone would instantly get it. Final game of the season for the NBA? Pin a photo of Clem's face to the nets and both sides will play harder.
On a map of the United States, Washington DC could be represented by Clem's face.

She always got on Lee's back for swearing, then in season 2 she swears herself, and twice she can tell others off for it.
She always knew what she was doing, even back then, the little rat.
