Walking Dead S1 crashing on launch

edited January 2014 in Game Support

I have been able to play the Walking Dead S1 on my PC before and never ran into any issues. However, I loaded it back up recently to gear up for S2 and the game repeatedly crashes on me. I run the game through my Steam account. Here is the download link to my support data. http://www.sendspace.com/file/xzhawg

Any help will be appreciated.

Please try if the game works if you disconnect from the internet. Make sure all Network adapters are disabled.

If it doesn't work then, please try starting it during a clean boot.

Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. If running the game on Steam, re-check the "Steam Client Service"
    8. Click on OK
    9. Click Restart.
    10. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

After performing the necessary steps, restore your settings by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Type msconfig --> Press Enter
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer
  • The clean reboot worked. Thank you so much for your help!

That's awesome. I don't really know the cause of this yet, so it would be very helpful if you could tell me what security software you are running (e.g. personal firewall, antivirus, internet security suite ...) and which version.

  • Sorry for the late reply. I use Norton 360. I believe its the 2014 edition but it doesn't say.
