what do you guys think of Alvin?

edited January 2014 in The Walking Dead

now i know it's only the first episode but it seems to me from what I've seen so far from Alvin is that Alvin does want to care for Clem and help her but he's afraid of going against Rebbeca or the group.

  • He is spineless, and the fearful usually die early in this world.

  • Alvin? He must have been a mass murderer or something in a past life if he's married to Rebecca. And of course, the world has to end before he could find a good divorce lawyer.

  • I was gonna use the word Chickenshit. But spineless works too :P

  • Yeah he will die soon, Looking at episode 3 with Clem and Rebecca i can see how Alvin dies

  • Alvin gave me a juice box, so he can't be all bad.

  • well, he did survive for a couple of years in the ZA

  • I didn't like him at first, but then he gave me a juice box, that I drank like fifty fucking times. He discovered the endless juice. He can't be bad after that.

  • We didn't really see enough of him to make a judgement, beyond that it appears that Rebecca wears the pants in that relationship.

Would that change if he finds out the baby might not be his?

  • My thoughts abut him .... meh so far.

That said he may just be a shyer member if the group like Doug for example who dont speak up much but are quite nice people at heart. Given that Clem comes in in a "Ben" type situation.

  • people like alvin usually survive a pretty fuckin long time like ben

  • Ben? He only survived 4 months only

An inherently good-natured man held back by his unstable, bitchy wife. Typical loyal husband.

  • Transformers > Alvin.

  • he needs to watch his language

  • The moment I saw him and heard his name uttered I screamed it...I have that damn kids movie but god if I can't help but think of...

  • The meaning of Alvin is "noble friend" so I think in Episode 2 if you treat him nice he will be your friend.

  • From what I've seen, he's passive and easy controlled by others (especially by his wife), but judging by the sneak-peak of Episode 2, his fallout with Rebecca when Clementine is searching for supplies, and when Clementine talks to Alvin through the window, Alvin can be assertive when pushed.

He also seems a nice enough to give away supplies to those who needs it, even if Clementine chooses to be rude and threatens to blackmail him.

Well he did survive longer than lee and the Governor so he must be doing something right or just VERY lucky

  • Kinda weird that he gave away that juice box just like that come to think of it. The value of something like that must have skyrocketed at this point?

  • I think he wants to help Clementine, but Maybelle (I, mean, uh Rebecca. Sorry, the two characters look alike) is holding back Alvin. Alvin should bitchslap Rebecca and give more Apple Juice to Clem.

  • Out of all the new survivors, I'm hoping Alvin will be the one who turns out to be the biggest surprise in terms of character development. At the very least, I want him to live long enough to see episode 5. I can't say that for anyone else in this group.

  • To be honest, I hope so too.

Alvin's position right now seems to scream 'first character of the group to be killed off', from my point of view at least, so I'm hoping that we get to see more of Alvin before his time.

I think Rebecca keeps him down. If he didn't have that baseball with shoes behind his shoulders all the time, (couldn't make up a better name for her), I think he'd have acted like Luke did to Clementine when they arrived at the cabin.

  • He kinda reminds me of Abe from Malcolm in the middle

  • i mean they wount kill him in like episode 2or 3. ben dies in episode 4 or 5

I don't think he's a coward. In the house meeting,if you reach to hear the discussion, the group is afraid about Carver coming to the house and Alvin says "Let him come,I don't care". I think he can be a good character,we'll see.

  • I like him, he just needs to tell his wife to fuck off and then we're full-on buddies.

  • You know who also dies early in this world? The brave.

  • I reckon Alvin will have a small story arc of his own with Rebecca that you can influence. There may be moments where Clementine will have a choice of encouraging Alvin to stand up to Rebecca and take charge.

  • I'm fascinated to see how the hell this marriage happened in the first place.
