If he's still alive? Did you actually play the episode? Even if you didn't choose to put Sam out of his misery, he was still impaled on tent stakes and would die within a few minutes.
It's hard to say who the most useless character was because all served some purpose or another. It's easy to point at Ben because he caused some indirect deaths, but before that, he did make a deal with the bandit's that kept the group safe if only for a short while..
Even the lady in S1E3 that was being chased by zombies, allowed Lee and Kenny time to gather supplies.. She didnt do much for the group but she served a purpose.
To the best of my memory, I think Omid did the leaste for the group that we saw.. I know it's assumed he and Christa took care of Clem for many month's after season 1, but during season 1, I don't recall him ever really doing anything useful.
Chet is also easy to say, but he had such a small part and was never really part of the group so I'll give him a pass.
Larry is the most useless character. All he would do was cause fights among the group and always argue. Im glad I helped Kenny put the saltlick through his brain.
I didn't like Omid or Christa. They just turn up like they've been out for a sunday stroll and tell us that they're going to join our group, for some reason we agree, and then christa starts threatening to leave. They said they were going to do us a big favour and help us with the tanker, and then they stand around and wait for me to take care of it. Later on, when Christa asked Molly what she was still doing here I almost lost my shit. We were at the darkest point in the game and then along comes some comic relief and a new rival to give me shit about Clementine.
If they were just a little traumatised or even concerned that the world was ending around them; or maybe if Christa would stop teasing us with a monologue about her baby and just deliver already- lets just say I'm glad they're dead. Season 2 Christa was nicely messed up though, she can come back if she wants. Omid can come back too; corpse that he is.
He saved Lee's life in the first twenty minutes of meeting him. Pretty sure that marks him pretty high on the; "This guy is pretty important" list. Plus, he took care of Clementine for quite some time.
I really dislike things like this because wow why always feeding people reason to spread hate and not love? It's really sad. I wanna spread love, I wanna talk about how great characters are.
But I agree Omid was kind of useless. He stood around and did nothing, though because of Lee (you) he hurts his leg really bad, being put out of commission for the majority of the time he's around. He does help with the tanker, he does save Lee from falling, and him and Christa agreed to take care of Clementine. So, he was useless when he was in bed, but other than that, nah. (He also was the only reason you were able to get into the mansion...and later, he can shoot Brie, as well as push the desk/table with Kenny, yelling at him and defending you)
Also I'd like to clear up Omid was the one who wanted to join the group, Christa was not. She hates groups, and never said she wanted to join. It happened very fast...if there was a horde of zombies coming in your direction, you'd probably hop onto a moving train too to get away from them. She didn't make any promises to stay, and Kenny was constantly blaming her and Omid for the zombies and slowing them down. She didn't help you, she only wanted to help Omid.
Ben...Ben. Without Ben, you wouldn't know that no matter what, when you die you become a walker. Without Ben, the bandits would have killed you much sooner. Without Ben, the train may have not worked, someone may have not seen the horde of zombies as quickly. Without Ben, Clementine wouldn't have had a friend. If you save him, he opens Kenny's eyes. If you take him with you, he'll catch you as you almost fall from jumping off the bell tower. He's a fuck-up, but he's not without use.
Larry had use as well. He may have been angry, (please do keep in mind that him and Lilly are military, and that alone should explain in detail why they are strict) but he really did look out for his daughter. He looked out for Clem, too. Yeah, he was pissed, but he knew you were a killer. Without his strength, the wall among other things in the motor inn probably wouldn't have been fortified at all.
Mark wasn't without use either. He was weak, ran his mouth a little bit too much, and was pretty reckless. (honestly Nick reminds me of him) but he is the reason that everyone in the motor inn had food. Not without use!
I wouldn't say Kenny was useless either because he was a good friend (kinda ONLY if you play completely-pro Kenny cause man he'll yell at you) but not once was he able to help you up physically and that will always bother me. Molly did it twice with no problem. Also, either way, he's the reason Christa almost dies or Ben does.
I don't think we can make any solid opinions on characters in Season 2 yet.
Then that rule should be the same with Clementine, right? I mean, if I am understanding what you are saying, nobody's age should excuse anything, so why then is Clementine an exception? Or Duck?
And if they weren't exceptions, then why didn't we just leave Clementine with the Stranger after Lee got bit after she ran away? According to you, being young doesn't excuse the fact that she endangered the entire group (and arguably got Kenny killed; had she not ran away, Kenny would be alive).
Why isn't Kenny being called out on some of his actions? He did steal food from the car, which caused The Stranger to seek revenge and kidnap Clementine. Why was he exempted? Is it because he lost his family? If age doesn't excuse ones actions, then why does circumstance?
What about Duck? He got someone killed by making a bone headed move, so to you, that should make him a liability and danger to the group.
See what I mean? It seems the 'age doesn't matter' excuse is only applied to Ben, but I say, if you make the excuse for Ben, then apply it to everybody, not just him.
From a narrative point of view, every character played a role as far as creating or driving conflict.
But from practical perspective? Ben's age doesn't excuse all of his actions.
Gotta go with Ben season 1 and then season 2 we haven't seen enough of yet. Interesting enough it just occurred to me that don't two characters have the same name? rebecca the pregnant lady and then isn't that also shel's sister's name? not that i think they have any connection i just think it's curious.

That "died a virgin" made me laugh more than it should have. Why are we even arguing about this? Maybelle is obviously the most useless character. Fat cow just sat there all episode.
Story wise, not, but gameplay wise I'd have to say Omid. Other than him helping you out with cutting the tank loose, what else does he do for … moreyou? He jumps/get's pushed off the bridge, stays hurt for a full episode, and basicly does nothing out of the ordinary for the rest of season 1. Then in Season 2, he dies fairly soon.
Sure, storywise he has taken care of Clementine, and Omid might have been one of my personal favorite characters, but let's be honest. He didn't bring much awesome on the table gameplay wise.
Same goes for Christa, but she was more useful in Season 1, since she wasn't hurt. But since we don't know that she is dead ( I think she probably is) , and COULD be of more use later on, I will rule her out
I bet Kat could have known the difference between a damn dog bite and a Walker bite. That already puts her ahead of the, so-called, doctor of Season 2.
Also, to answer the OP, the useless character is Ben. He's good for the story but as a part of the group he was always, ALWAYS, a complete dead weight.
For what we saw Larry. Maybe he was more useful in between the three months but all the bad things he caused negate the few things he did in t… morehe game. Leaving lee, Causing the meat locker problems and Lillys insanity. Needing heart pills.
The only real thing he can do is save Lee and thats only with Doug and if given the axe
At least Ben told them the reality about walkers
Season 1: Travis (even though his dad was special forces)
Runner up: Ben, even though he was an interesting character
Season 2: Michelle (nasty cunt who should have died a much slower death)
Runner up: Rebecca
Useless to Lee perhaps and doomed due to his sickness, but other than that he was a pretty capable character. Who just didn't really want to h… moreelp much. I don't think a rival qualifies for uselessness just because he isn't helping you.
As for Ben the group would have found out soon enough anyway, in terms of uselessness no one beats Ben.

1) Saved you, Clementine and Kenny's family when you first arrive
2) Saved you again from the restroom zombie that attacked Clem
3) Assisted you in the Motel search for Glenn
4) Saved you from Zombie Travis/Parker
5) Assisted you on your journey to the St John farm
6) Went back to the farm to rescue the group
7) Saved you again from Andy St John when he looked to be overpowering you
8) Helped you fend off the Zombie/Bandit attack
Out of all the characters, you label Carley as Useless?
Carley and Mark. Carley doesn't do anything. I only saved her because i wanted to see what would happen.. Mark does nothing at all but get his… more legs chopped off. Others would be Travis, Mr. Parker. Season 2 HAS JUST CAME OUT. There really isn't anybody. So far they all have a purpose. But i guess Winston seems like the guy i'd pick. The only 2 things i liked about him were:
* 40-50 year old with 20 year old voice.
* His group was cool.
I like Ralph, the guy with the hood, who is voiced by the music director which is awesome. I hope he comes back.. Victor seemed like he was dead/dying. I still wanna see him alive or as a walker..
I do like Carley and Mark, i just think they didn't serve a purpose other than:
1. A lovestory
2. And a guy who tells your enemy what you've said behind his back. And getting his legs chopped off.
I pretty much like all TWD characters.. Not once i've seen a character that was not interesting at all..
Ben.
What did Ben ever really do, except in danger everyone else, or get someone killed?
He never killed a walker, he didn't even have the balls to stand up for himself!
Carley

Fat and dumb is a bad combination during a zombie apocalypse- not that Kat is either of those things...

Omid makes the promise that he will take care of clem like she is his own. Omid cant even watch the bathroom door to make sure clem is safe. FAIL
Gotta go with Ben season 1 and then season 2 we haven't seen enough of yet. Yeah, Becca is most likely short for Rebecca, since every person named Becca I know is named Rebecca. We also have 2 Danny's.
Yeah, I'm putting my vote on Rebecca for this one. Useless, rude, hateful. And a cheater.
Who knows? She could have a big impact later...but yeah for now, shes kinda dead weight
Yeah and both Dannys are pedos
Yeah. Don't hate me, but I shot Justin's foot off. Danny St. John however, should rot in hell. I meant to kill him but I hit the wrong button.
Ben or Duck
Ben. He literally never helps.
Ben, fuck him.

Ben is the coolest, dude.

Maybelle... you know, that cow!
i would say duck as he did not help in any manner instead a little in investigating with lee at the motel parking. later he got bitten and was killed.
No no sorry if I missled you I was telling the guy that said she was fat and dumb that there is a reason she was important.

I love you. This comment.

Larry was helpful as hell, just not helpful for Lee, therefore we see him as useless while its the opposite.
no, ben was the most morally right character in the group, he just made bad decisions with good heart.
no, ben was k
Bens not useless, he just doesnt know how to help, if you go alone with Ben, he saves your life as you jump across the bell-tower, his reply?
"That was close" - Ben
Ben is the best thing that ever happened to the group, I agree.
I know, this was meant for the guy who said that, not you Cuffs
Like I said, I liked him as a character but he was mostly pretty useless and, at times, detrimental.
sorry my bad XD
Chet/Andre Mitchell (Police officer)

He never killed a walker, he didn't even have the balls to stand up for himself!
The only useful thing is the gun she has..
What do you expect her to kill Zombies with? Sticks?
So any character that knows how to use a gun properly is useless?
Glenn. He does nothing for the group.
