The "you're still Lee" theory
Okay, this theory has nothing to do with the "I thought you were dead" theory. I've kind of been thinking that we are playing as Clementine in season 2, but if you look at it technically, we are actually playing as the ghost of Lee or Lee's guardian angel or whatever. We do make her move, let her interact with things, and control what she says. Although in season 1, everything we did as Lee, mostly, was affected by our concern to protect Clementine. And if you notice in season 2, everything we make Clem go, take, and say is still affected by our concern to protect her, not to protect somebody else. Just like Lee right? Its as of we are still Lee telling her how to survive and solve adventure game puzzles in the end of season 1. For example, we don't tell Rebecca to "be nicer to us" because that's just what we would say, we say it to protect Clementine from her threats. Even if that means turning her into a cold-blooded survivor rather than the innocent little girl from season 1.
I know it doesn't help with the other theories going on, but it all kinda makes sense right?
Comments
That's up to the player's interpretation. I do play the game both ways though, sometimes alternating between seeing myself as Lee just watching over her or just being Clementine at that moment in the game.
That's all entirely up to your perspective.
I didn't, for example, resort to blackmail because that's not the kind of girl I imagine Clementine to be. For most of the time, I try to play the game from the viewpoint of Clementine, not Lee's. Still nice to people, optimistic, apologetic even. Doesn't push her agenda on others, like Carlos. Somewhat quick to trust and wouldn't want harm to come to even those who distrust her. I calmly tried to reason with Michelle and Rebecca.
Only thing where I think I failed is wether or not to put down Sam the Dog. I had to witness similar event when I was a kid, it wasn't easy to watch. I can't even imagine myself doing it at that age. Mercy or not, it is a hard choice, especially to children. Of course, that depends what kind of person you are. I did put Sam down, though. Out of mercy but it left me wonder if the Clementine would have it in her.
One could argue that's a bit naïve viewpoint, but that's what I imagine Clementine to be. One could even argue that due to recent events, she has changed, became more distant, even selfish in consideration of her own survival. And if that's how you play her, it's fine.
But not once I though of playing the game as 'Lee's ghost'.
I'm sorry to say but I don't approve of your hypothesis.
yes its make sense to me i just being clem
its alright,it was just a thought
Not that I disapprove with provoking new ideas and speculations.
Keep at it!
This was something I was afraid would happen when I first heard Clem would be protagonist, but luckily it didn't. When I play as Clem, I feel like Clem. I never though "Winston's gonna kill Clem!", I though "Winston's gonna kill me!". I only feel like Lee when I play Season 1, but in Season 2 he is dead and just a happy memory. What you're saying has happened to a few players, though.
