Purple Ribbons
Please note that I haven't read the Fables comic series.
After playing episode 2 I noticed how all the prostitutes wore purple ribbons and the phrase "These lips are sealed" is repeated by most of them.
Would it be too wild a theory to suggest that the ribbon is some sort of "Mind control" device or something that is influencing people into keeping quiet?
Bigby can complement Faith on her ribbon in the first episode, drawing attention to it.
The ribbon is found sticking out between her lips.
All the prostitutes wear one. Georgie says that they value privacy and anonymity and keeping the working girls quiet whether they want to or not would certainly be in Georgie's interests.
Plausible.
Do the ribbons decapitate the wearer if they spill their secrets? Probably not but there's a sentient toad walking around so anythings possible

Good catch! I noticed that too. The way Nerissa struggled against whatever keeps the girls from talking, trying to get Bigby to understand.
I guess there is a spell on them.
I've played Episode 1 again yesterday and noticed that it is Faith who mentiones the ribbon in her dialogue with Bigby. She says something like "How do you like my ribbon?" drawing attention to it with that (on purpose I think ).
In Fables (and folklore) there is a certain type of enchantment called a Geas which can have that kind of effect. It can prevent you from performing certain actions, or imparting certain information.
Yeah it really bugged me while playing episode 2 that Bigby never asked Nerrissa or the other prostitute about the ribbons. If you've read Legends in Exile then you know Bigby is a good detective, he notices small details and it wouldn't escape him that all the girls wear ribbons and they all use the same phrase "These lips are sealed." when asked certain questions. The fact that Bigby never puts these two things together makes him seem a little slow and not very good at sleuthing. Then I got to thinking maybe the ribbons not only prevent the wearer from revealing answers but maybe they also prevent Bigby from asking direct questions about them. Maybe on my next playthrough I'll pay more attention to this, but did anybody get the same idea? Why hasn't Bigby brought this up yet, it seems pretty important to the case. Why do Georgie's girls have such powerful enchantments on them? Is it even legal in Fabletown to manipulate a person like that?
I the comics, there is a spell put on a fable named Weyland, where he is unable to tell Snow anything that might help her free him. I'm pretty sure that the same thing is going on here.
Agreed
I think it's interesting that Nerissa's Book Of Fables' entry doesn't have a ribbon on. So these lips may not stay sealed it seems.
As someone above me said there was a spell put on a character in the comics that prevented them from being able to perform a certain action it seems as if something similar is happening here and possibly this is what is preventing the mirror from showing Bigby certain people
