Where is the story taking place now and where is Wellington?

The walking dead wiki says they're somewhere in North Carolina, is that right?

And where/what is Wellington, is that an actual city in North Carolina? I couldn't find any cities using google haha..

    1. it is assumed because of a license plate from north carolina that can be found at the beginning of ep1
    2. nobody knows it. there is one in ohio and canada, but they're small towns

    I think Wellington is in Kentucky which is North of North Carolina.

    Theres a Wellington in kentucky. The city in ep5 slide looks like louisville Alt text

    I thought they were staying away from cities though, Maybe they heard of a refugee or military camp there???
