Gaming experience based on graphics?

I love the design. I think it's wonderful, rich, and ties nicely with the comics. However, how would your gaming experience be if the exact same game had the most realistic graphics ever?

It would be the same, not all games with awesome graphics make it great and legendary.

  • Two of my favourite games date back to 1995-2000, and I will never - ever forget either of the stories or characters involved, regardless of graphics.

  • I normally don't care about graphics because for me the two most important things are gameplay and story. TWD/TWAU however, I feel really need graphics due to the fact that it makes it more immersive. I play TWD and TWAU on PC due to this and I also feel that point and clicks are best with a mouse.

I think The Last of Us is a really good example of a well crafted, big budget zombie game. It's amazing, definitely among the best looking console games of last generation. It would still be amazing whether or not it had realistic graphics.

Games like Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4 that focus on graphics more than anything else? They're never called classics. On the other hand, a game like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker was absolutely incredible and was an instant classic.

Realistic graphics can add something to a game, but it isn't necassary and, in most cases, just isn't cost effective.

With The Walking Dead, realistic graphics might add to the game, overall, but the game already conveys emotion better than most (looking at you, Beyond: Two Souls) so it just doesn't seem necessary.

Well, I felt that my experience was very much enhanced by the fact that I played the game on a professionally calibrated 2560x1440, 120 Hz monitor with driver-forced AA. It is harder to appreciate a developer's artistic vision when it is marred with unwanted artifacts such as blur, jaggies, and screen tearing.

It was VERY important for when my mother played the game. 60 fps, and especially 30 fps cause her to become very motion sick.

I also felt that the new design of Season 2 helped to shape my opinion of the game. Especially the animations, which appear to be slightly less cartoonish overall.

For me graphics aren't that big of a deal and as long as the stories are good I'll play. Anyway if a game is good but was made a long time ago and the graphics are old, they will often remake the game with better graphics in a few years.
What ultimately makes me not play a game though is really bad controls or first person view games, for some reason first person games give me motion sickess.

  • now I'm imagining what if the walking dead game is made in that low bit graphic, like one pixelated texture of those classic 80's game
