Anyone else starting to feel the game story is better then the Comic or TV show?
I am a fan of all 3 but lately my favor is starting to lean toward the game.
The threat is an essential part of the survival story. The game really stays too its roots as a survivor story upping the ante having the deuteragonist become the protagonist in the sequel. Usually writers are too safe and when the threat is established after awhile the threat seems nonexistent. By having the main character die in the first season it refreshes the threat and shows that anyone is subject to death no one is safe. Theres only the hope that the new protagonist learns from the old one and their faults.
Its arguable that the tv show refreshes the threat but a lot of things just dont add up killing any threat. For instance Hershal's unlimited ammo and no I Think the show would be pretty good if AMC upped the budget a bit and Didnt give Frank the axe. I also wish that sometimes when the writing is bad they would just follow suit with the comic book and stop doing Homages to other zombie movies when there's a zombie kill. Its becoming more of a cliché then homage. Season 1-2 were pretty good but it just started going down hill at the farm.
The comic is really starting to pick up but the Negan saga feels too long. Not that it feels too long but I really want revenge for Glen. Kirkman's set up for this Arc is amazing and the threat is constant because it seems like Rick is losing or will lose(under dog). Have not seen a build up like this since Gustavo Freeman's death in breaking bad season 4. I just hope Kirkman can kill off Negan right and have Rick's army gain a cleaver advantage that makes sense.
My question to you is how do you feel about the 3 different walking dead stories?
Comments
Did you just realize that? I've known this since the end of Episode 2 of Season 1
I looked at your thread and...just...
After finishing season 1 of the game, the first non-crying/weeping/sobbing thing I did was realize how much the TV show fucking blew compared to the game. So, yeah.
Comic is a bit closer, but I still prefer the game.
Old news. What I hate is trying to get my friends to play the game but they're always like "ITS NOT A GAME, ITS AN INTERACTIVE MOVIE WHERE YOU HAVE TO ESCORT A LITTLE GIRL AND THAT SOUNDS BORING AND ANNOYING" even if they're huge fans of the TV show.
I feel you. Every time my brother walks in on me playing it or re-playing it, he says, "Why the hell are you re-playing this? It sucks." Then I'm like...
Sorry if this is a late realization just caught up on the comic. Saved my judgement till I finished it.
My brother does the same exact fucking thing
Game: Season 1 was perfect. If I state my opinion on S2 though, I'm going to get flayed here.
TV Show: Poor, bland writing as a result of firing showrunners and budget cuts. Left watching it after season 3. Couldn't take Frank's absence from the show anymore.
Comic: By far, the worst. Kirkman rehashes previous storylines in an attempt to pump out issues. Negan isn't too terribly different from the Governor, and Alexandra/Hilltop is just another Prison/Woodbury. Kirkman rewrites previous conflicts within the more recent issues, just substituting them for different characters. Almost all the characters he writes are one-dimensional now, I didn't even care about any of them. Left reading the series at issue 100.
Ditto.
As for the comics, I've barely even read them despite me getting the compendium for Christmas in 2012 since I had enjoyed playing the Telltale series.
I live in the 'City of Brotherly Love'. Ironic.
The story from the game is by far the best of all and has the emotional attachment to it where the decisions are yours, you get conencted to the game because the consequences are off your decisions not just on the game makers decisions. And Telltale can write so good that they make you feel real connections with the charatches.
I like all versions of The Walking Dead but the game is my favorite, It has the best story and characters, i have never cared about characters as much as i have done for the game and i am really looking forward to the rest of season 2.
The TV show is ok but i felt they they spent way too much time on the farm and in the prison and it started to get really boring due to AMC padding it out with nonsense like the flu storyline, i am glad they they are back on the road again but they will probably start padding it out again once they reach the next settlement, once they get to the Negan storyline i doubt AMC will let him swear as much as he does in the comics which will ruin his character.
The comics are slightly better than the TV show but as i have not caught up with the latest issue i am not finding them as exciting as the wait can be annoying.
I feel its better mainly due to that it has new people. Plus the two mains Lee and Clementine are actually likeable
After 100 issues the comic has run out of steam a bit, plus I can't stand Rick or Carl
The TV show has had numerous problems Directors,Budget,Acting and is really just a repeat of the comic.
Oh and again I can't stand Rick and Carl
I know I am
Okay......
I kind of want to know what you mean by "sick in the head", are you saying that just because he doesn't like the game?
Oh, ok. lol
Haha. Yeah, my brother is an asshole
Five brothers!?
We must derail this discussion to the full extent! If the mods wont let us keep our Bros4Life thread, the fuck it!!!!!
Not having likable main characters is really a big problem.
People who dare to insult the game will get a salt lick to the face (if you're a guy say goodbye to your walnuts)
The game is just too awesome to let go.
I like the TV show (people can call me crazy) but I do agree about the farm and influenza stories they were not as good (that includes Season 3 finale).
I haven't read the comics but I looked at the magazines and I'm intrigued so I want to read and see the differences.
