Well, apart from Luke, who could really come on supply runs and the such with Clementine? They're pretty much the only two capable survivors willing to take risks left in the group.
Nick is depressed / Pete is injured, Rebecca's preggo, Alvin's probably being bossed around by her not to take any risks, Carlos is probably too much of an overprotective father to leave Sarah alone with anyone, especially now that they're out of the Cabin's safety.
All that's left is team Luke and Clem, really.
And judging from the screenies they still don't trust her enough to give her a gun, since all she seems to have is that hammer still.
Yeah, cabin group, real smart move, leaving one of your few supply runners left on a tough spot by forcing her to use a melee weapon.
Clem's such a good shoot, they don't know what they're missing.
They are either building the Clem/Luke relationship for the long term or they are making us think he will be around and he will turn out to be evil and/or die really early.
Remember that if somehow it came down to Clem or the entire group, he would save the group as the greater good.
Hypothetical situation exam… moreple: A bunch of aggressive bandits want Clementine for an unknown reason. ["Just give us the girl with the Hat or it won't end well for you..."] It looks to be shady as fuck, but then it just turns out to be a patrol of Kenny or Lilly's group that Kenny/Lilly told about Clementine, and they merely want to take Clem to K/L to earn "points" with them. The rapidness of Lukes buildup reminds me of Sam. They rapidly built up that dog's relationship with the player/Clem, then betrayed us, hard. Can't show Nick/Pete - spoilers regarding their survival
Can't show Rebecca/Alvin - possible spoilers regarding their 'who's the father' subplot
Not sure about Sarah/Carlos.
