Did anyone else burst out laughing...

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

When Clementine said she could handle turning off the wind turbine and everyone there agreed?

Carlos asks if anyone knows what to do with it, Clem volunteers and they all just accept that the 11 year old girl is the most qualified to operate complex machinery? I mean, im not saying Clem is incompetent, but she clearly would have the least idea of what to do.

When Carlos asked that, I thought, "Well, it sure as hell isnt Clem, gonna have to be you or Rebecca" then she volunteered, I thought they were going to push her aside and do it themselves, it was ridiculous to assume she would know what to do better than they would, I just laughed.

    This.

  • Its not about character development, its the likelihood of an 11 year old girl knowing how to operate a wind turbine or any large piece of machinery, she clearly has no experience with such things, so why would you have the least qualified person perform that job? Clem would have been more useful with a gun while Rebecca could try and turn the turbine off (who didnt help fight anyways)

  • My favorite moment was when Carver and Clementine are in the kitchen and she awkwardly tries to look casual while leaning against a counter.

I'd kill for a .gif of that.

  • What's next?

The group will find a plane ask who can fly and clementine raises her hand.

  • One more thing about that part that was weird was how easy the puzzle was. I mean really? Why even say 'nobody knows how to turn it off' without opening it up? There should have been more to the puzzle than pick up the key and turn it, or else it should not have even been Clem's job. Like really.

  • I really did not expect her to volunteer. Then again, all you had to do was use the key...I don't see how anyone else weren't able to figure that out.

  • I really wish I knew how to upload pictures, but the funniest part for me was when Carver asked for your name and you said Clementine he says " you look just like a clementine!" And Clementine just glares at him. I busted out laughing

I laughed at the "dinner table" choice - not because it was corny or anything, but because the thought of two grown men pining for a little girl's attention was pretty funny.

  • Ya I thought it was pretty funny. Thought it was a prompt for a puzzle like Lee and trying to get the train to work in the other season and I was thinking "who the hell would give a little girl this job to operate such complex machinery?" As soon as I opened the box looked around picked up the key stuck it in and pressed the button took less then 30 seconds and I was like "Oh..."

  • Clem has one rule: Don't do anything stupid. Maybe some people in the game should take after her :)

  • Or maybe they figured the adults were better suited to take on walkers, which a child shouldn't be expected to do unnecessarily.

    I'll catch you.... Probably

    God dammit Luke

  • It wasn't that difficult lol. Find a key, put it in, turn and then push the button. I thought it was going to end up being some complex puzzle or something.

  • Clem and Luke had great interactions.

  • Maybe Clem and Christa spent a few days in a camp where they had a wind turbine set up and someone showed her how it worked. A little serendipitous, but it's possible. We don't know what they were doing all that time.

  • Yeah, it did strike me as really odd that Carlos just left her to figure out a complex piece of machinery. But then, figuring out that complex piece of machinery turned out to be ridiculously simple. Like really, Carlos? You need the eleven-year-old to figure out that the key goes in the key-shaped slot? That's all there is to it?

I'm putting this moment right up there with Carley's inability to use batteries.

  • I laughed when I realized I had spent about five minutes staring at the screen like a complete idiot before making a decision.

  • Agreed. He'll never replace Lee but I'm glad she has a friend now. When he gives her a high-five if you take out the big walker and his statement of "Don't do that again" in a joking but concerned way really reminded me of Lee.

Clem and Luke had great interactions.

  • Clem has great facial reactiosn this season. Had me chuckiling several times throughout the episode.

  • This is probably what they were going for. It's more like they were handing out jobs and gave easier job to Clem. Kenny and co. probably knew how simple it was when they let her do it.

  • When Luke said whats the most important thing now I immediately said food and than made Clem give up which I thought was really funny

  • Yeah.. I admit finding it a bit bit odd that any of the group needed someone to second guess how the key worked.

No cuz I laugh at things that are funny, not at things that dont make sense...that would be weird

  • Hey, to be fair, Carlos is not the smartest of doctors.
