Two Foreshadowing Possibilities

People are speculating that Luke either abandoned the group, every man for himself or he hid, tracked, formulated a plan to liberate the group and put an end to Carver's tyranny once and for all. I saw what I believed could be foreshadowing possibilities.

Foreshadowing possibility #1: Luke abandoned the group from what I considered foreshadowing. When Nick says "I wish I could be like him. I wish I could just keep movin' all the time." Him referring to Luke. Luke could cut his losses and just abandon the group to never be seen again.

Foreshadowing possibility #2: Luke is following the group so he can save them from Carver. The foreshadowing behind this is when Luke says "It's a tough world out there without people you can trust" after Clem asks Luke why would Carver be after us and you answer "Family." Luke doesn't have anyone he can trust since they were all captured by Carver. Luke also considers Clementine as a little sister. This could encourage him to rescue his friends.

These are just my speculations and opinions. Please leave feedback on what you think.

  • So it's a 50-50 then. I really hope Luke does the second one.

  • I'm sure he will. He just doesn't seem like a character who would abandon his fellows. Especially based on his dialog.

I agree on both fronts. I made a topic on the second possibility two but the first one also makes sense. Why did Carver go to the house alone with only a handgun? He was clearly outnumbered and no way they would reason with him... Unless he knew it was empty. Clem and Pete/Nick were gone for a whole day. It's possible Luke went out and Carver either forced him to cooperate or maybe he was working with Carver all along, but here's what I think:

During that whole day, Carver and Luke met where they made a deal. Surrender Rebecca to him and no one gets hurt. Luke, afraid he might die himself, agrees. Or, like I said, he was with this plan all along (doubt it though). Anyway, with Clem, Pete, and Nick out of the picture, he needed Alvin out. So he asks him to go look for the three leaving Carlos, Rebecca, and Sarah alone. Rebecca can't defend herself and while Carlos could do something, having Sarah there puts her in danger and Carver could easily have threatened her, forcing him to cooperate. With that settled, he can leave without having to hurt anybody.

Now why would Luke have them escape? Simple. No one expected Clem to come back by herself. When she did, it allowed Carlos and Rebecca to have a reason to leave for fear of the others getting hurt. When Carver came, expecting Carlos, Sarah, and Rebecca, he only saw a new girl and perhaps thought he was fooled by Luke. When Luke comes back and finds out what happened, he fears the group getting killed including himself. No choice, he leaves, looking for others that could possibly help him. When Carver finds them at the resort, he runs off, hoping to do the same thing.

    Makes sense?
