Does anyone else find it harder to empathize with Season 2 Clem?

I seem to recall Clem killing walkers when she was 9 in season 1 so I don't think the time skip was necessary for the reasons you gave. Clem killed walkers in season 1 but did it in a more realistic way, with difficulty. She killed the walker in the house if she is left to watch over Omid and she saved Molly from the walker at Crawford if Lee didn't help Molly in time. Clem kills the walker in the jewellery store, hell, she even kills the kidnapper if Lee fails to defeat him. I think the time jump was so they didn't have to focus on the events of season 1 and allow Clem to move on quicker and establish new relationships. Season 2 has new writers at the end of the day. They want season 2 to be credited on it's own merit and not live in the shadow of the master piece that was season 1.

3 people I miss from the walking dead game are Lee Everett and the other 2 are Sean Vandermen and Jake Rodkin.

It might also help that Lee was a fairly blank slate when we started playing season 1 and were free to mold him as we wished. We had no prec

  • It was hard to watch clems reaction to Carvers face being smashed in a the end lol I almost feel like shit for letting her say. I can still empathize with her. We all know shes not a pshyco path in the making shes just a tad confused on her role in this new world society. :(

I agree with you that her transformation was a little too quick but given all the horrors she has witnessed , the shock of losing Lee and the last advices he gave to her it doesn't surprise me that she turned out to be more mature in this season. She sometimes acts or speaks like an adult because she was forced to grow up too fast. But don't forget that it also depends on how you play and the choices make. I think that some of the choices allow us to keep Clem's innocence.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm more emotionally invested into her character now more than ever. Ever since Season Two started the main thing I've been looking forward to was how her character was going to grow up to become independent. And I'm loving it.
  • I actually found her easier to empathize with. Like Katjaa said "That girl is a puzzle". She didn't express a LOT of her opinions in season one, now there kind of are ways to understand what she really thinks all of the time. I like that Clementine has the realization now of what's happening around her... she always had that but more now than before.
  • I agree with the first post to some degree. The crux of the first season was basically Lee protecting Clementine. Taking the role of the flawed protector of a defenseless person made Lee very easy to emphasize with. Clem was Lee's redemption, which is also easy to connect to. In this season, you're playing Clementine as a hardened character that (more or less) is looking after herself. Perhaps the addition of Sarah into the story will change that.
  • They can still use Dlc to explain the skip I agree with your points
  • Fair point. And yes, the confrontations in season 2 are leaning towards the unrealistic considering Clem's stature and age. I mean, I have some serious doubts that she would have been able to hack off a limb, even on an adrenaline rush, with just TWO chops.
