How do you teach ______ how to shoot?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

How do you teach Sarah how to shoot? I pinkie swore with her in episode 1; didn't take her picture in episode 2, and told her that her father would be fine. She never showed me a gun. What am I missing here?

  • U have to take her picture say everything is fine than she sits and picks up the gun

  • I think you have to take the picture but I'm not 100% sure.

  • I did the same things and she showed me the gun but I didn't show her how to use it.

  • I told her not to scare people instead of taking the picture, but I was still able to teach her.

  • I did the exact same thing and didn't get the scene....I don't get it

  • That's strange, i pinkie swore in Episode 1 too, didn't answer when she asked me to take the photo, and told her Carlos was going to be fine and she showed me the gun.
I thought she only show you the gun if you said you were friends

  • To get that scene, you have to have pinky swore with her in episode 1.

  • I don't think Clem really "taught" Sarah how to use a gun in that scene. Clem gave her a couple of tips, but Carver arrived before she could show Sarah how to properly FIRE a pistol. Hardly enough time to give Sarah an important lesson in defending yourself from zombies and bad guys.

  • Nope. I didn't pinky swear with her (I threatened her in fact), didn't take the picture (told her not to scare people), but I DID tell her Carlos was in danger and that Pete died. I think if you are honest with Sarah (or friendly), she will show you the gun.

I'm still dubious about what good or harm my "lesson" is going to do in later episodes, though =/

  • Did you tell her Carlos was in danger? I told her not to scare people, but I also told her Carlos was in danger (and Pete was dead). I think doing those two things helps her trust you enough to show you the gun. Not 100% sure though, but she did show me the gun in my playthrough and I wasn't friendly to her about the picture.

  • I pinky swore but told her that I couldn't promise that I would be able to be nice to her all the time. I took the pic and told her not to scare people. And I told her that Pete was dead and Carlos was in danger. But the lesson seemed pointless since Clem used Lee's lines when he trained her yet didn't know what those lines meant. Clem embarresed herself, Even though in S1 I trained her perfectly with no errors or questions. weird.

It'd be cool if it made the difference between her surviving or not in a future episode. I'd feel good about protecting her. :)

I pinky swore with her, took her picture, told her the truth about her dad being in danger but reassured her that he would be okay, and she showed me the gun.

  • No, I lied and said they went fishing and still got the opportunity to teach her. For the record, I also pinkie swore and took her picture.

I didn't take her picture, but I did the pinkie swear, and be honest with her saying everyone is gone, she show me the gun

  • Hmmm... well, I have no idea then :)

  • So I went back and realized something. My first play through I went and replayed the last scene of ep 1 to get into the mood I started a new save file by doing the rewind and found something weird. During the previously on, Christa gets stabbed in the leg. I watched this thinking it was a glitch because I totally tried to save her. Didn't think much of it but after finishing and seeing I didn't get the gun teaching scene, I figured out why. I went back and checked the "your decision" section in the menu and that save file only had the decisions I made in the last chapter (who did you save/did you give the dying guy water). It didn't register or even show any of the previous decisions. Clearly this caused the game to make its own decisions on what I did (like mass effect if you don't carry over). I redid episode 2 using a full save file and got the scene plus the right Christa part in the "previously on".

So for those of you who haven't seen the "teach Sarah" scene, I am assuming you did this as well. I'd be interested to know. Thank you everyone for the help; this is a great community.

  • I did not took the picture and told her the truth about Pete and I taught her how to shoot

  • This is weird. In my first playthrough, I did the pinky swear in EP1 and took the photo and told her that Carlos was just fishing in EP2. Got to teach her how to shoot. 2nd save file: Didn't do the pinky swear, didn't take the photo, but I told her that she should know what's going on and that Pete was dead. Again, got to teach her how to shoot. So even though I did the exact opposite in both playthroughs, I still had the same outcome.

  • Clem told Sarah that the gun is not a thing, and to squeeze the trigger, but couldn't explain why she had to do either of those things. If I was Sarah and an 11 year old was telling me how to work something while barely explaining more than that, I wouldn't really trust her that well. She could've told her not to get nervous, or that you squeeze it to reduce recoil, or something.

  • That's weird. No matter what I do, she still wants me to teach her how to shoot.

  • Nope. I didn't take the picture and she still showed me the gun.
