Top 8 Greatest Episodes

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

What are your top 8 favorite episodes? I took the time to create a list (and it's in my correct order as well) of my personal top 8 favorite episodes, 1 being my all time favorite. This is just my opinion, and post your favorites down below. I even took the time to create a decent rating of each episode. I wanna know what other people think! You don't have to explain each and every one like I did, I just wanted to get my point across. =D

8. 400 days - I only enjoyed two of the five stories (Vince and Wyatt's). Shel and Bonnie didn't interest me, in terms of both story and character. Russell was pretty boring, but I did like Nate's character. I wasn't a fan of the ending scene either. 6/10

7. A New Day - The interaction with all the characters in this episode was spot on, and exploration was good, but there were plenty of moments that dragged on and got to the point of being rather boring. 6.75/10

6. All That Remains - A good way to start the season, but lacks plenty. Character development was at a minimal, very little exploration and interaction. It started off strong with the bathroom scene, and ending on a lousy note. Plenty of scenes felt rushed. 7/10

5. Starved For Help - As overrated as this was, I did enjoy most of it. The cannibals were good antagonists while they lasted, and character development was strong with this one. Though again, there were scenes that bored me such as searching one of the bandit camps with Danny St. John. I felt like I had to search everything, and I wasn't interested in it at all. The episode did pick up near the end, starting off when Lee gets the lock to the back door of the barn off. 7.5/10

4. Around Every Corner - This one seems to get quite a bit of negative feedback, and I can see why people think such things, but I overall enjoyed it more than the previous ones I already mentioned on this list. It had plenty of action, had great twists and the introduction to some rather interesting characters. Though, they could of handled the disappearance of some characters better. The entire sewer part was quite boring to me though, and the whole School segment felt like it dragged on much longer than it needed to. 8.5/10

3. No Time Left - Extremely emotional. That about sums up the season finale. I knew Lee was going to die, but I didn't realize the game would hit me as hard as it did. I didn't cry or even shed a tear (I didn't even have to hold back any, for I didn't feel the need to do so. Please tell me I'm not the only one), but that was a powerful episode. No other game has made me feel in such a way I did. Although, I feel almost the entire attic scene was pretty boring though, except for the part where I ruined that dude's face. 9/10

2. Long Road Ahead - Twist after Twist after Death after Death. What else can I say? It starts off like any normal episode, but shit happens, and it hits hard. As if losing the Motor Inn wasn't enough, they kill Carley/Doug, reveal Duck is bitten, and make us experience a horrifying Nightmare of Clementine. All that in under 10 minutes? This episode was pretty insane. Getting the train to work kinda dragged on a bit, but there were interesting moments here and there throughout that sequence to keep it from being boring, so that's always good. 9.25/10

1. A House Divided - This is everything that I can ask for in an episode. Very intense moments, huge twists and reveals, and an insane 20 minute sequence at the end. I felt that no part of this episode was boring in the slightest, except maybe for talking to Sarita in the lodge. She isn't very interesting, but she made up for it by talking about Kenny. This episode has the most intense scene I've ever experience in TWD (IMO) The Bridge scene. Then it has the biggest reveal (IMO) Kenny's fate. Oh, and THEN, it has the most difficult decision I ever had to make (Choosing who to sit with for Dinner). The introduction to Carver was excellent and well done, the strong feeling of uneasiness when he searched the cabin was well written and played out, and his character as an antagonist is very strong and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of him. I must say, I'm not sure if it's even possible for Telltale to create an episode better than this, but one can only hope. 10/10

Hopefully I was clear with what I had to say, but yeah, post your top 8. I wanna read what everybody likes and doesn't like!

    My list would be:

    8: 400 days

    7: A new day

    6: Around every Corner

    5: All that remains

    4: No time left

    3: A house divided

    1. Starved for help - I just loved the atmosphere in this episode. Also my favourite group dynamic of the series. 10/10

    2. No Time Left - Short, but everything in it felt like it needed to be there and worked perfectly. The ending. 10/10

    3. A House Divided - The whole thing was exciting and nerve racking. Carver is a great Villain 9.5/10

    4. A New Day - Maybe a bit of nostalgia placing it this high, but it hooked me on the series. "Carley or Doug" is probably the decision i remember the most. 8.5/10

    5. Long Road Ahead - Stared explosively, but dragged on a little towards the end. Also dammit my favourite character died in it :( 8.5/10

    6. Around Every Corner - Felt like it's purpose was more to set up episode 5. I stuggled with the decision of what to do with Ben though. Crawford was a great concept but a bit of an anti-climax in the end 8/10

    7. 400 Days - Hard to compare to the others, since it's a short story compilation, very short, but i found it pretty fun to play. 7.5/10

    8. All that Remains - Still decent but the weakest episode for me. Mostly set up and not very memorable, but unlike other episodes doing the same thing i felt like it lacked freedom. 7/10

    1. Long Road Ahead - The most vicious choices and character deaths of any episode, the episode introduces Chuck, Omid and Christa, and contains my favorite scene; Teaching Clem to shoot and cutting her hair.

    2. A House Divided - The most intense episode to date, it had me white knuckling the controller for 30 minutes strait.

    3. No Time Left - A little short but by far the most emotionally draining, and the last scene with Lee and Clem is the most heart breaking scene ever

    4. Starved For Help - Biggest shock episode yet and all around good episode

    5. All That Remains - To hyper focused on Clem but the conversation with Luke at dinner saves it, and the stitching scene, good god the stitching scene.

    6. Around Every Corner The former most intense episode but in hindsight not the best episode

    7. A New Day - A good start but nothing spectacular

    8. 400 Days - I just don't like these people

    2- A House Divided

    1- NO Time Left

    8. A New Day: A fantastic way to start the series off, but it seemed a bit "bumpy" with the pacing. Very intense fast paced moments, and then slow talking to people scenes. I never found it boring, but it was just a bit strange to be in such an intense scene and then to instantly switch to everything being calm. It did everything right as far as being a good introduction, but the episode itself had a few problems is all.

7.Starved for Help: This episode was much better, it had a much more desperate tone and a very good atmosphere about it, but suffered a little from the same problems as A New Day had. I liked all the characters, it had good development, and it was the first to give me a really hard choice(stealing from the car).

    6. Around Every Corner: This was a great episode, and outside of the puzzle bits, did everything right. But most of the puzzles, while still good, dragged on for a bit, and aren't integrated into the episode very well. Also, I hated the first person shooter segments. Besides that, it was pretty good.

    5. All That Remains: This episode was a strange one. I like all the improvements to the UI and the QTEs, but I'll credit that to the Season as a whole and not the episode. The episode itself was a little strange because there wasn't much character development, and it was shorter than your average episode. It didn't suffer the same problems as A New Day, but I'd judge it the same way, a great introduction, but some problems with the episode.

    4. Long Road Ahead: This episode was just fantastic. It was intense and terrifying, and had a great opening. The suspense never let up, and I was incredibly drawn in to all of the scenes. The puzzle wasn't bad, but it was a little unclear, and took far longer than it should have. This was one of the most emotional episodes with the death of many character. It also did a good job introducing us to new characters, and had a great ending.

    3. 400 Days: I personally loved 400 Days, all the stories were great, and so were the character(though I personally didn't like Shel or Russell too much). It was great to switch between all the stories, and each one was unique and exhilarating.

    2. No Time Left: Probably the most emotional episode so far, this one, just like Long road Ahead, never really let up with the suspense and emotion. The "Alley Scene", the talk with the Stranger, and of course, the end, were all fantastic scenes. Even though it was short, it was an amazing Season Finale.

    1. A House Divided: This, in my own opinion, it the best episode thus far, and telltale will probably have trouble topping it. The character development in this episode was great, and so was the opening(either way). Voice Acting and overall performance was, as usual, fantastic, especially on the part of Michael Madsen as Carver. Also, Carver may just be my favorite antagonist in the entire franchise. All the characters are great, the course of the story flows well and mixes suspense and calm moments in a great way. This is one of the first times I've had trouble with choices since... Well, since Starved for Help really, and I was greatly impressed with the impact of the choices(both Alvin and Nick lived in my game).

    My number 1 is No Time Left, the epic Lee vs Zombies scene, my number 2 is A House Divided, all those hard choices. ;-;

Believe it or not, my number 3 is 400 days. I don't think the story of it was outstanding, but it's the effects I think it will have on the rest of the game....it is genius. We will be more attached to the 400 days characters when or if they die than we are to normal characters. We never got to play as Kenny or Carley or Doug or Lilly or anyone else who's died, other than Lee. We got to play as a lot of the 400 days characters, I think if they die it'll make a much bigger impact since we got to play as them.

I don't want to add more to my list than that, too much work. xD

    1. Starved for Help.
    2. No time left.
    3. A New Day
    4. Long road ahead
    5. Around every corner
    6. All that remains
    7. 400 Days
    8. And I'm missing one.
  • 8 - Long Road Ahead (this is controversial, but the train puzzle is kind of tedious)

7 - A New Day (I've played it too much)

6 - All That Remains (too fast-paced, couldn't really stay in one location for very long)

5 - Around Every Corner (dragged a bit, but a lot of it was interesting)

4 - No Time Left (Good, but short)

3 - 400 Days (I liked the multiple characters dynamic)

2 - Starved For Help (Really good episode, good levels of storytelling, puzzles and plot development)

1 - A House Divided (Best episode ever)

    1. No Time Left: Just beautiful episode one of best experiences had in gaming i was so attached to lees character at this stage feel the pain he was going through. The impossible hope after cutting off his arm. Realization that your going to die. Seeing helpless clem in front of you knowing never be able to protect her again and miss all the adventures i was devastated 9.9/10

    2. Long Road Ahead: Loved whole mystery of the episode always guessing what was going on so intense and shock at cannibalism and killing st johns just so epic 9.8/10

    3. Around Every Corner Always remember this as ben episode and really tested me morally failed everything i gave him and failed to protect clem then suddenly get chance to kill him my wish but couldn't do it and saved him then learning more about crawford was interesting. Then getting bitten the shock nearly fainted i just couldn't believe it really hoping my eyes was playing tricks on me 9.6/10

    4. A New Day: Introduced to little girl named Clem never forget it. Playing at start really wondering did make right purchase having calm conversation with cop next thing bam crashed and zombie then i really liked. Loved all mini puzzles within level and seeing all new characters and building relationships 9.5/10

    5. Around Every Corner so hard putting this fifth world class episode but just liked others slightly more offered lots of shock value and get more connected with clem learning more sweet and beautiful. duck and kajja death was hard on me mentally felt was my fault for rest of the game and clem nightmare scene i still have nightmares today over that.

    6. All That Remains could not connect with new season so linear no puzzles or exploration with lack of character interaction all shock value was forced like dog and omid scenes see them for 20 seconds then dead felt could of gave player bit more time to connect and there deaths were poorly done. Then skip clem suddenly a badass killer from innocent little girl who tells jokes and is sunshine in dark world to very dark character who kills, steals, lies,, swears and manipulates people love see through 2 minute cutscene introduction showing her dealing with deaths of her friends and surviving and the events that changed her and she learned from like to see change through events as months pass not sudden change with short cutscene at start. As for story had feel when she said missed lee rest was meh 7/10

    7. 400 days Whole concept was really interesting lots of cool little stories with different characters and destinations but as played everytime started getting interesting it was over way to short again decisions small effect especially in prison scenes replayed so many times and still got arrested no matter what i did 4/10

I have not played new episode but what i heard best episode so far and i'm really excited and looking forward to more high quality episodes

    1. No Time Left (First game ever that made me cry)

    2. A House Divided (Just simply awesome. Also Kenny)

    3. Starved For Help (Loved it. Great Antagonists)

    4. Long Road Ahead (Death After Death. Only bad part was the fact that the Train area dragged on and on)

    5. A New Day (Good Interaction. Good Introduction)

    6. All That Remains (Ok Intro to S2. I wish there was more interaction and more Bromid)

    7. 400 Days (Decent Intro to these characters. I liked Shel & Becca the most)

    8. Around Every Corner (Got bored during the Sewer system and the School area. Picked up at the end though)

I loved every episode to be fair, but that's how I rank them.

  • 8. Around Every Corner- this episode had its good moments, but I think there was just too much time spent backtracking in Crawford.

    7. All That Remains- it could just be from me playing it too many times, but now it just seems really boring to me.

    6. Long Road Ahead- good Episode, good character development, not much action after Lilly shooting Doug/Carley near the beginning

    5. A New Day- the original Episode, featuring the most iconic characters and a bit of slightly offputting adventure game puzzle stuff.

    4. 400 Days- I found it to be a really good concept, the whole switching between different characters from different points in the ZA with connections between the stories.

    3. No Time Left- a fantastic feelgasm.

    2. A House Divided- Carver is an intimidating badass that you kind of hate and love at the same time, Kenny returns, and then there's dat ending.

    1. Starved For Help- Featuring Larry's death, Soylent Green is people, and the excellent battle at the end between Lee and the St. Johns.

  • You forgot A House Divided, the newest one.
