Story Branching?
I wanna know just how far you think they will branch out choices, it could be that there are a crap-ton of endings(ranging from everyone surviving to no-one) or keep it some what linear i.e. the first one? So far there have been many chances to save certain people so there are very widened story lines, but will it be like Doug or Carly and Alvin and Nick will end up dying at a set point anyway?

I'm hoping the braching will not be as open as varying from eveyrone survives to no one survive, but I'm also hoping it to be like ALvin and Nick can either live or die in episode 2, and at least one of them can survive the season if you help him do that
Nick had best be the one to survive the season.
Agreed. Nick has the most character-depth so far, I'd really like it if your choices influence his future development.
Agreed, Nick is a very nuanced character and is my favorite from the cabin group. Hoping it doesn't turn into a Doug/Carley situation, but it probably will.
Knowing TTG, they'll kill him simply because of this conversation right here.
No doubt lol, they do like to torture the fans.
Oh well, at least he lived this long.
Having a very specific option to save him, and then him just dying next episode would be quite upsetting though. If he goes out, I hope he is doing something worthy at least, like saving someone.
I hope he doesn't go out, period. He's my favorite character... And if this theory about Kenny killing Luke turns out to be true, I hope we get a scene of Nick beating the shit out of Kenny, because, were he to have killed Luke, the fucker would deserve it.
As much as I like Kenny as well, I'd have to agree. I highly doubt Kenny did that though, I think it was probably something more along the lines of Luke telling Kenny they shouldn't attack because they are out gunned, and Kenny being Kenny, so Luke got into a better position to follow them. Luke only had a machete, so I doubt he'd want to charge at people with assault rifles. I'm sure we'll see Luke again. Also, I hope Nick doesn't die as well.
Which direction are you leaning? Nick/Luke, or Kenny?
Honestly probably Nick/Luke, because they are more versatile. I really like Kenny, but I already see he's got it in his head that the solution to all problems is Wellington or bust, like with the boat. Luke and Nick seem more open to suggestions and planning beyond just the abstract ideal of getting to Wellington. Granted the episode 5 screen seems to scream Wellington so maybe I should stick with Kenny lol.
Tldr: Probably Nick/Luke. How about you?
Nick and Luke, because the minute I heard Nick say "You were the one telling me to fuckin' shoot her," I knew he was going to be my favorite. He basically has my logic down to a tee "But I didn't." And he's also a really well developed character. Kenny hasn't changed a bit, so I'm done holding my breath.
In the first episode I did not like Nick because of the fact he almost shot Clem. and wanted her dead. But after he apologized I accepted considering he realized what he did wrong and I can understand due to the circumstances of his mothers death. Then I got to hear from Pete about his dad being a POS and I further sympathized with him. When it came to it I decided to save Pete though because I owed Pete for giving me the benefit of the doubt when he first met me.
Episode 2 I promised Pete I'd look after Nick, and ran off. Much later in that episode when Nick sees his uncle's guts all over the ground and a bullet in his head, I wanted to hug him because of how bad I felt for the poor guy. Later when Nick shot the guy on the bridge I was thinking "WTF!?" But then he explained himself and I understood why, he had very good intentions: He wanted to be useful and save his friends from harm. So fast forward to the ski lodge with the whole Walter finding out about Matthew scene, I told him the truth and told him Nick was a good guy.
SO, yeah. I believe Nick is the most subtly fleshed out characters in the Cabin group right now. We don't know anything about Carlos/ Sarah, we know a little bit about Rebecca but jack about Alvin, Luke.. Yeah, we don't know anything about him either which is why people make Pedo theories about him. But with Nick we know the reason why he acts. All of this, is a sign of good writing and made Nick more believable instead of being a Really super nice bad ass like Luke.
While there are clearly unavoidable events, I hope that determinant characters aren't immediately killed off in a way that feels cheap. Of course, I also hope that they don't become completely insignificant should they survive for the long term..
At the very least, the next episode's variance should have some meaningful character moments.
I wonder if Nick will become a main character, perhaps even replacing Luke, if you save him, or his death was one of those things where they develop a character and kill him in the same episode just so you feel bad.
i'd like a wide range of ending because i want to see the effect of my choices on the storyline. I hate the kind of Doug/Carly choice because my choice didn't matter. I want the story to vary so i can have a reason to replay it. Common, this is basically a visual novel. And look at the Japanese vn, many of them even have more than a dozen endings.
that's true but it is a lot easier to make a VN than it is making TWD which has multiple seasons that have to connect to one another.
It would be interesting, but I don't really see it happening since most people end up dying regardless of your actions in the end. It would be cool to see if they can keep Alvin and Nick alive for several episodes though, that would really stretch out replayability.
I really hope they don't do that. That'll have a one trick pony feel, just like if Clem gets bit and amputates her arm and dies like Lee, like so many people suspect. I hope the determinant characters play a bigger role this time.
I really hope so, although personally I'm putting my money similar to the Episode 5's 'branching', where it doesn't really matter whether you got everyone with you or whether you left Ben behind. Although a branching story where a certain ending could be achieved by saving everyone would be awesome for example.
Same here. I really hope that having X character at Y time really fucks you up, or Z character at A time really helps. Maybe no B character at C fucking you up would also be cool.
Yeah, but I am at least hoping for some somewhat different endings...
Yeah, no matter what you did around the same time Kenny "died". And Doug and Carly also did.
Agreed, Nick has had the most complex personality. And I hope that Clem and Kenny live, but that wont happen...
I don't care as much what happens to Kenny, because he should've died with Ben. Instead, his sacrifice meant nothing. So long as Nick is okay, I'll be fine. Luke dying would suck, but I still just care about protecting Nick... But the thing about Clementine saying she'll protect him leads me to believe he's going to die in an extremely awful way in episode 4.
I'm sure 400 days will help with this branching as well. Bonnie always joins Tavia, but the rest of the group is determent. That could be a huge factor.
