Game Criticism

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

My complaints about this game are mainly the programming.

1) Can you not do a better job at the joining of peoples feet to surfaces? It looks like they float. Same behavior when someone places their hand on another person, look like it is not really touching. Apparently your rendering machine is low quality on precision, but it makes it look stupid when proximity is not "realistic". Also, why is there no food on the spoon?

2) The inability to back up to a decision point instead of a save point is just ridiculous. You must have a reason not to allow it based on some philosophy, but it really detracts from enjoyment and exploration of alternate paths in the game. I pay a lot for this game, and I wait a long time, you should enable our investment for higher enjoyment by allowing better interaction with the engine.

3) And, from a story standpoint episode 2 is so short and uneventful from an interactivity standpoint I am disappointed in your story boarding. Now it feels like I am being strung along with dreck. Hopefully better story boarding, writing, and interactivity are planned.

I noticed the stuff with your first point, but it's not really game breaking. Like when Pete pats Luke on the shoulder in episode 1, it just looks weird, but that's serious nit picking. Also, I'm not sure what you mean about the proximity of it, because it looked realistic, it was just soft and oddly quiet so it seemed odd.

Your second point is kind of null since they allow you to back track at all, it might as well be to points where people will want to back track to. You also don't pay a lot for the game unless you are purchasing the season pass 4 times for just yourself. The game is 1/3 the price of your average game, and is vastly superior.

    Point 3: Alt text

  • I was greatly disappointed by episode one. It was absolutely terrible. It was so bad that I actually didn't even really feel like playing episode two and it took me a few days after release of episode two until I finally started it up (I usually play new episodes the day they come out).

Episode two is good though, I enjoyed it. This episode also had some illogical situations, but they weren't as numerous, blatant or ridiculous as in episode one. That doesn't mean that the writing is good or great though, because it isn't. The writing is decent and passable in episode two, but it is still light years behind the quality of season one.
