Nick...??
What do you think of Nick? Do you think he should be killed off (if Walter didn't a already in your play through of the game)? Recently I've seen a ton of hate for him but I think he has redeeming qualities. I personally think he should live because:
-He saved Clem's life, risking his own (if you chose Nick instead of Pete at the end of episode 1)
-Pete wanted you to protect Nick
-you would be half-proving his point when he said, "Everyone I grew up with... it all happened to them. Now, it's gonna happen to us.", and I think proving that could lower Clem's hope
-He had a tough past that made him the way he is but that just means there's plenty of room for character development, IMO
-it would probably impact Luke quite a bit (They knew each other before IT even happened and you can see how against Luke is about letting Walter find out anything that could lead to there being harm to Nick)
And that's my opinion but do you think that's right, do you think Nick's actions are still unjustifiable? I'd like to know you're thoughts please. (Btw, sorry for the length)
Comments
Nick wasn't justified, he just has a lot of misunderstandings.
At least he admits it when he makes a mistake. At least he said, "Maybe I am losing it... I don't know anymore..."
He's a more likeable version of Ben in my eyes...
Nick was trying to protect Luke and Clem. He saved Clem if you choose him over Pete in the first episode. After seeing a lot of people he cared about die, he doesn't want to lose the ones he has left. It only makes sense that he takes reckless and overreactive measures to protect them.
Nick dying off would be an addition by subtraction. The guy is clearly a danger to himself and everyone around him. Also the notion that we should feel extra bad for him because he's lost alot people is irrelevant. Its the apocalypse, everybody has lost people they love. Anyway he's dead in my play through, so yea...
Whoa, whoa.. it's not like he's being a complete asshole about it, he's simply saying that no one should be given more attention than someone else because of lost loved ones if it stands in the way of surviving. That's pretty simple stuff for the apocalypse, it's not harsh if your life is on the line. Crawford is a whole different ball-game.
Nick's death in episode 2 felt unfulfilling especially after making that promise to Pete, although he survived through my play-through.
Survival of the fittest my friend. If you want Nick backing you up well...good luck.
This, I feel like letting him die was unnecessary at all. I mean what would be the point in keeping Uncle Pete's promise?
Technically Clem didn't let him die, but she did indirectly decide his fate. Unfortunately, Nick's life is on the bubble, and he's the leading candidate to biting the bullet along with Alvin if his head wasn't blown off in your play-through.
I ran off without his help.
Pete was dead either way and Nick is slightly better than a walker. Emphasis on "Slightly".
Oh well...I just hope TTG makes an ending where Nick lives. They did mention there'll be more "story-branching"
Where did you read that? That would be cool if it happens.
Nick's proved himself multiple times to be valuable, and yes he does screw up but not at the intensity that Ben did. He does it to protect the group, and that's a good trait to have in a zombie apocalypse. The only problem is that he's paranoid and on-edge because of Pete and his past, which isn't much of an excuse but for him it's doing something to him. What he needs is Clem to set things straight and to tell it as it is, unless of course he's dead from EP2.
This has a lot of potential and broadens the "every action has a consequence" gameplay.
That could be true, but you and me both know that's not in your thought process when making a decision like that. I picked the most logical choice.
Nick knows where the fuckin river is
I treated nick just the way I treated ben,by giving him support & sympathy, but also telling him the right thing to do
There's a thread around here somewhere that says that...and I think I heard TTG announce that too.
Most of us do.
Cuz he's a Vanilla Ice-cold Killa
I guess saving Clem counts, even tho some people survive on their own or pick Pete. Other than that when has he been a positive to the group?
That would make him a danjair to de grup.
Yis hee iz a danjair to evrywan.
Yes, he knows where the fucking river is.
Nonsense, he saved Clem, he can lead me to the river anytime he chooses
I really like Nick. He's got this vulnerability that he tries to hide under a rough exterior and I liked seeing more of it in episode 2. To me, his problem seems to largely stem from a lack of confidence. Pete, much as I enjoyed his character, may have left some serious damage on that boy. If you talk to Nick while they're examining the bodies by the river he makes a comment that sounds like Pete never quite valued his opinion on things. I think this has led to Nick behaving in a way where he's constantly over-compensating for what he suspects is a lack of trust from others. And I don't think Luke is helping with that issue as he seems to be handling him with kiddy gloves (not allowing him to have his back, not trusting him regarding Walter). He's not as readily harsh as Pete but the issue of having faith in Nick's judgement is there. I'm hoping we get the option to bring that up in the future but with the way things are at the end of episode 2 and Nick being determinant, that doesn't seem likely.
