Theory about Telltale's game length

After Episode 2 of The Walking Dead was released a while ago, i've seen some people conplaining about how long the episode takes to finish and i have an impression we are making Telltale rush alot more than before.

After the waiting for Episode 2 of The Wolf Among Us, i don't think Telltale is taking any chances with the episodes, and are trying to finish them as fast as they can without getting delayed. I mean people were pretty damn mad when TWAU took about 3 months to be released, saying things like: ''I'm never buying from telltale again'' or ''Fuck you telltale give me my money back''.

Fearing for their costumers i think Telltale is reducing the time from the episodes to make them faster.
I'm sure episode 3 of TWAU will be short so it can come out in time for no complaints.

I'd like you're guys opinion on this...

  • I don't mind if they make them faster as long as they still have the same quality and enjoyment.

  • Thats what I've been thinking too. Man, talk about a doom loop. Shorter episodes = People complaining about length. Longer episodes = People complaining about delays. Some people, I tell you....

  • I wouldn't mind short episodes if they are as good as A House Divided, but I would still prefer at least 1 long episode.

The stupidest part is it often seems it's the same damn people making both complaints.

  • I don't think so. I think they're shorter to allow for more story branching. Just my guess. I'm sure they have a good reason though. As long as the episodes are awesome like A House Divided and not rushed like Smoke & Mirrors I'm happy.

One thing telltale should stop is giving deadlines or episodic time making estimates. Or even the word "soon" or "very soon" or "coming close" or anything like that.

If telltale aren't sure how long it'll take them to finish the next episode. Then they should just shut their mouth and take their time. I know not giving an answer to "when is the next episode coming" would feel disrespectful, but what's actually disrespectful is telling us soon when even they are unsure of that.

Other than that, they should take time on the episodes and try their best to make the episodes BOTH long and branched if they could. I know it'd be very hard and take a lot of time. But I think telltale should have privilege to take their time as long as it makes their games better and as long as they don't give us a false release date estimates. If it's gonna take long then at least tell us it'll take long or don't answer at all. It won't erase all the complaints, but it'll at least reduce the amount of complaints and complainers.
