In The Pines symbolism?

Do you think the ending song in te game is symbolic in a way? I was reading about the origins of it and some of the stories that are told with it are somewhat similar to the game.

Edit: also, in some versions the song ends with "you called Rita carry me home" (or something along those lines. Do you think in this context it could be referring to Kenny and Sirita?

    Good catch! Sarita did say something about Matthew calling her 'Rita' once. Someone else made a post about this recently, and said that their grandmother used to sing this song to their mother and her sisters for people who are dead or missing. Or for someone that they would never see again. Here's the link:
