The player is given the option to kill ____?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

The first time I played TWD and I got to episode 3, I was surprised that the game actually allowed the player to end Duck's life. I thought it was illegal to incorporate the feature to where you can kill a child?

I have no idea if there are laws against that sort of thing, but kids die in media all the time (though perhaps not as often as they should in some cases).

Plus it wasn't like a GTA "I'll shoot this kid in the head for lolz" sorta thing, (which is precisely why there isn't any children in GTA games i'm guessing). It was an important part of the story.

I think censoring stuff like that is stupid. EVERYONE can die, even kids. It's tragic, but so are all deaths, in a way.

I thought killing Fivel was worse. It actually shows it.

I do agree killing a child is a game or a movie is illicit but that child was turning into a zombie. And the TV series all of the girls who are killed were walkers.Well except for Lizzie and her sister.I wonder how they will act about it.

  • I think they can't show the death happen on screen. They have to change the angle a bit

  • Why would it be illegal to kill a child in a game? (Still disappointed that they didn't actually show it, they only killed him off camera), they are human just like the rest of us. That shit pissed me off in the show too, They didn't show Lizzie or Mika die but I really wanted to see it. HA! Weak ass show producers. At least Telltale has some balls and kills of Clem now on screen when failed a QTE, which I like, thanks Telltale for being like the only game company ever to do that

  • I didn't care for it, but they did the same thing in The Last of Us when playing as Ellie.

  • Actually I think there are rules in television and film regarding child deaths. For example, I heard that the killer can't be in the same shot of the child falling to the ground, etc...

Regarding Ellie from TLOU, she is 14 so technically nearing the end of childhood. Sarah's death was alot more traumatic IMO.

The invulnerable children of Fallout and Skyrim were pretty stupid too. Although allowing the player the kill them would have bordered on the GTA-style controversy so I can see why they made it like that.

  • I like that kinda stuff. I guess I'm sick in the head but i like it when they push the envelope.
The last ep on TV where the girl kills her sister to prove that when she comes back she'll be normal still, absolutely great.
This is a zombie apocalypse, it ain't supposed to be pretty.
