If Clem were still with the ones you mentioned, she wouldn't have gotten separated from Christa, wouldn't have gotten bitten by the dog and then saved but Luke and Pete. They wouldn't have met the people at the cabin at all. As much as I liked Omid and Mark, they had to die to progress the story.

Then it wouldn't be Season 2 because Season 1 wouldn't have happened.
