Theories About Wellington and the Northern Region

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

First off, I'm still pretty new here to the forums, so forgive me if this post is a repeat. I just wanted a place for everyone to discuss their theories about Wellington and what it may be like up north. Here is mine.

I live in northern Virginia (~30 miles outside of DC), so I find it cool that everyone is heading up north. Here is the thing though. We have a good number of homeless people who live in the woods in tents. This past winter has been pretty bad. Homeless people have been getting sick and dying due to the cold, and this is even with the help of some care/missions groups that go out into the wood and help them. Up here, the key is to dress in layers, but finding thrown away or abandoned clothing is very difficult. With the group heading to Wellington (which I believe the game said was in Michigan, which is WAY past northern Virginia), I'm not so optimistic the town. Sure, the cold winters may slow the walkers and the rain, snow, and ice may help them decay faster. What if the cold winter is killing of people just as much as it is slowing/stopping walkers? Imagine getting to Wellington only to find out that the people are actually heading for the south because the winters up north are deadlier than the walkers and bandits combined. It would bring a whole new dynamic to the game, revealing that no region of the land is safe. Now you're having to survive the weather along with walkers, bandits, starvation, and disease.

  • Its very unlikely wellington is safe. Its probably just another destination that isnt a good place to live

I don't think clothing should be a big problem. There are so many dead people and all of them had closets full of clothes in their houses.

Food on the other hand would probably be harder to find in cold regions. Maybe there are more cannibals up north?

But I don't think they're going to be too scientific with the effects of the weather in the story.

I mean, a good hot summer down south would have taken care of the walker problem. There would have been a plague of flies and the maggots would have gotten rid of the walking corpses in no time.

  • True. There have been numerous times when I have had to stop being analytical about The Walking Dead universe. I tend to find too many unexplained moment where my logic doesn't agree with the story. I just have to set logic aside for a great gaming story. It's The Walking Dead. Not everything is going to make sense.

  • Clothing is never a problem in the apocalypse, there's free clothes everywhere.

Food. Well, there's lake michigan, lake erie and lake huron all there for fishing.

Wellington will be some crazy cliffhanger for season 3!
