Does anyone here play online games on steam? If I'm on, I'm usually playing Quake 3 Arena. My username for Quake 3 is just plain Zoidberg, and on steam chat it's drzoidberg82.See you all online!

We once tried to get a game of TF2 going, but as far as I know that never happened. There is a Telltale Friends or something group you should look for, that has a bunch of us in it.

I am waiting for Quake Live before I start playing what is Quake 3 Arena again.

Man, earlier I was able to play Quake 3 online for the first time and now it says there's no response from the Master Server.I was having so much fun.:(

P.S. when does Quake Live come out anyway?I signed up to be a beta tester and never got notified whether I was excepted or not.

Same here with the beta thing... I am hoping they either start sending out more invites soon, or come out with the game at least by early next year. The sooner the better though :)

I would only get relatively new games (1997-present) on steam, unless there was absolutely no free download online.I was able to get the full version of Doom (and the Wolfenstein 3D shareware version) online for free here (for Doom) and here (for Wolfenstein). But I've been using steam to get demos and anything free.I've been thinking about getting Half-Life from there though, since I never finished it when I had it.

first, you'll need to use the twilight hack, which sortakinda voids your warranty...

then i'd recommend using the homebrew channel to launch homebrew (which is some sort of witch's brüe) applications.

then you can get quake here, or use the homebrew browser to download it directly to the SD card. you'll need the pak0.pak and/or pak1.pak files to play, but i think they may have updated it to include pak0.pak.

by the way, if you own any of those old lucasarts adventures, you can copy the files over to the SD card and use scummvm to play them with the wii remote!

I play TF2 through steam. Other than the Telltale games, only other pc game I play is City of Heroes, which isn't a steam product. :D

I never understood why PC gaming is so popular.I know the PC has some of the best games in the world, but it seems like I always feel extremely lucky when I get a PC game where all the features work. And my computer is pretty fast and isn't terribly old.PC has the best games in the world, but it just seems so innaccesable.

I really perfer console games, but there are some game ad genres that are more at home on the PCs than consoles. Sure City of Heroes could probably be done on the console, but the controls would have to be simplified and/or limited.

The people that originally created City of Heroes, Cryptic Studios, is making a new super hero based mmo based called Champions Online (based on the pen and paper rpg of the same name), which they aim to make available for both the 360 and PC and the game is more twitchy and action game-esque. Sure, there's nothing wrong with that, but it just doesn't seem mmo-ish to me.

But thanks to systems like the Wii and DS some of the more pc-friendly genres (like adventure games and RTSes) can be more console friendly, and they made some very good and easily controlled RTSes for the 360, but some games are still more suited for a PC than a console.

Yeah, and the aiming is actually quite good. The wii Doom port, however, sucks. Quake is great though.

That sounds........kinda complicated.I bought Twighlight Princess for the Gamecube before I got the Wii, and I don't wanna buy it again just to play something I could get on the PC.
