Reading the comics and watching the show

I was beginning to feel this episode made me think that reading the comics sort of spoiled the show for me. S4E16 of the show was a prime example; I knew as soon as they we're going to rape Carl that Rick was going to go ape-shit and bite the guy's jugular out. It's slightly different from the comic (add Daryll, substitute Michonne for Abraham), but the scene is relatively maintained. That said, I thought that Jeff Kober, given he's a relatively recognized actor, if not just as "oh, I like that guy," was going to live longer. (Also he's a significant, abeit supporting role in Sons of Anarchy.) To be honest, up until this episode I thought he was sort of sympathetic... Then again I also thought Lilly was somewhat sympathetic until S1E3; so apparently I'm just a bad person...)

Long story short, I was curious how many other people felt reading the comic spoilt watching the show sometimes..

  • For some reason I like the throw back to the comic. I think its the best route if there are no other ideas to write on. Personally for me this was the most boring part of the comic but Terminus adds a bit of spice to the story and rather then having a small group of cannibals lurking in the woods we have an organized cannibal community that herds humans into box carts like cattle. The cannibal twist alone made the episode feel fresh to me.

  • There is some overlap (see "The Grove episode). But it is not enough to completely predict the TV series.
