Amid The Ruins + ****'s death
I just had a thought. Amid The Ruins seems to suggest that Clem will lose her hat, and that Nick will be a determinant character from Ep2 onwards.
So I had a thought. If Nick survived in your playthrough, and dies at a later date after Clem loses her hat, he could make a joke while he's dying about how Clem doesn't look right with a hat, then he can offer her his, and you get the choice to take it or leave it (kind of like the sweatshirt in Season 1). In every subsequent episode Clem would be wearing Nick's hat.
If Nick already died in your playthrough you wouldn't get this option and Clem would just go on with no hat.
It could be a symbol of Clem's remembrance of the Cabin Group, especially Nick, and to some degree Pete and Luke who were connected to Nick.
Just a silly idea I had, but what do you think of it?

I'm hoping Nick has a further role to play beyond episode 3. This sounds like a more affectionate farewell for Nick...although Clem should NEVER lose her hat. That's like Superman losing the "S" on his chest.
I'm hoping she just took her hat off during the "ritual" or whatever is going on in the slide but we'll have to wait and see. Hmm that's an interesting thought though, if something similar to that happened then I would take his hat like you said as a reminder although I hope Clem doesn't lose her hat, it's what she's known for and is a symbol of TTG The Walking Dead.
That could be an interesting path for Clementine to take if done right - a loss of identity or purpose, which could be what EP5 is about. Not sure about how that would work though.
I don't want Nick to die and I don't want Clem to lose her hat, but damn that sounds pretty interesting.

I don't think Clementine will lose her hat, at least without trying to get it back. It means a lot for her, because her father gave it to her, and Lee always retreived it for her. I hope she just removed it for the ritual purposes.
Even though, knowing that this decision will never happen, I would never try to replace Clem's hat. It was a gift from her father and the hat is more than just a garment. It reminds her of her past.
Damn. I'm not sure how to describe that other than emotional.
I would totally wear Nick's hat if he gave it to me on his deathbed, but damn it I will fucking fight tooth and nail to keep that hat safe.

I'd take his hat every damn time. I might even shed a tear or two. I don't want this to happen though, because it means I've failed Uncle Pete
That would be incredibly touching. Only problem I have with it is I don't particularly like Nick's hat for Clementine. I just can't imagine her rocking that ugly brown thing. I think the design suits Nick's stormy personality better.
On the other hand, she could get a new outfit that matches better ala Lee's outfit from Starved for help.

and would gladly take it if he died to honor his memory I hope he has a bigger role he is easily my favorite character besides clem. I'd say he's tied with Kenny for me :P
