Would you have done the same as Rick?

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

In the Season 4 finale of TWD, would you have done the same thing as Rick did to Joe and his group?

  • I would have taken more bites than vampire Rick. What a waste of a good meal.

  • In their conversation after the incident, Daryl says, Something happened...that aint you.

Then Rick replies, "Daryl, you saw what I did to Tyreese. It ain't all of it, but that's me.

What exactly did Rick do to Tyreese?

Rick beat the crap out of Tyreese in one of the earlier episodes in season 4.

Tyreese punched Rick like 3 times and then Rick beat him to within an inch of his life, it was right after Tyrees's girlfriend got burned by Carol.

  • IIRC, Rick beat his face in after Tyrese got a little too aggressive regarding the murders at the prison. However, I still don't think that's on the same level as taking a chunk out of someone's neck.

Anyway, I always say people can screw with me as much as they want. They're asking for crazy if they mess with my family though (blood-related or otherwise). So yeah, under similar circumstances I'd probably do the same.

  • At the Terminus, the people were not shooting Rick and his group. They were just keeping them from escaping. So are they like the people at St. John's Dairy who eat human meat?

  • People were assuming that the folks at Terminus were cannibals since last weeks episode, it's hard to tell what the Terminus folks half planned. I guess we will just have to wait till october.

  • It was absolutely brutal and maybe a little excessive, but I cannot blame the man. He had every right to do what he did. Seeing his family in danger can easily turn a sane man into a beast. So yeah, probably, under the same circumstances, I might have done the same.

    Agreed!

  • Would I do the same? You're damn right I would.

If I ever saw someone that was on the verge of assaulting my child I would no longer be responsible for my actions.

Mess with my family, you mess with me.

  • Probably. The lack of any signs of livestock kind of feeds into that. As does the way they were 'herding' Rick and company to the storage trailers like animals.

  • While they we're leading Rick's group to the train car, they passed by some pile of flesh and bones, and there were also stacked train cars with people inside, calling for help. Then there's a room painted with, "Never Again, Never Trust, We First,Always." It looks like they were stocking up human food supply. And their modus operandi, broadcasting through the radio about their sanctuary and putting maps everywhere.

  • Oh heck yeah, I forgot about the screaming people. I originally thought it was Glenn and the others so it went out of my mind when they found them in the end.

  • I agree. I guess the comics depicted the scene much worse, -- reason enough to make Rick go berserk.

  • I really dont know if I could physically do that? Have enough strength in my jaw to tear open someone throat? I wouldnt really know till I was in that situation which I think is true for all choices.

  • If my child was being molested, hell yeah I would.

  • If someone was trying to rape or hurt my family I'd also kill them in the cruelest way possible. Rick's behaviour was completely justified.

I think should have made Dan have an even more painful death then he did. I would have cut his fucking limbs off for step one for what he did to Carl, then proceed to slice him up his stomach till it reaches his neck where he can't breathe, killing him in the worst way possible.

    EDIT

Sorry I went a bit satanic there... my bad.

Yes. Sometimes you have no choice. If someone was going to killed me and rape a loved one, you can be damn sure I'd bite their goddamn throats out if I had the chance.

In self defense situations nothing is off the table. When I started taking Karate, one of the first things we learned was how to effectively bite and gouge eyes.

  • I'm wondering, is it really that easy to bite someone's jugular off? I'm not saying it can't be done, but it looked pretty effortless. I would expect the neck area offering more resistance, so to speak, and human canine teeth are not very pointy or large. He took a big chunk...

  • He must have been hungry.

  • Hungry for justice? (Since he is a cop)

    He must have been hungry.

  • it depends. rick did this because that guy was about to rape his child. so that just went past his point. but if things were less cazy probly not. if I was in that situation were my child was about to get raped, I would have done the same thing

  • My son getting raped?

Hell, I think I'd probably do a helluva lot worse than Rick did.

  • damn right

  • Joe got what he deserved. And so did the worse-than-just-a-jerk trying to rape Carl. They would have gone for Michonne too after Daryl was beaten to death. Legit though, I probably wouldn't have been strong enough to do what Rick did. :p

  • Anger and adrenaline likely added to his bite strength.

  • In a behind the scenes for that episode, they asked him what he thought human flesh tasted like he said chicken...they asked cooked or uncooked and he said uncooked... in that scene they used raw chicken... he was supposed to swallow....

  • And yet, Carol is still alive.

  • If dead people can tear a person's flesh from their bones, it stands to reason that a live one could as well.

  • I imagine that attacking someone with just my teeth wouldn't turn out well for me either. Picture a small dog that awkwardly wouldn't let go.

I'd kill people just to save Clem. :>

  • I pretty sure raw chicken would be bad for your stomach.

  • The fight is so much fucking better in the books, Tyreese pushes Rick of a balcony and whilst he's in the air, Rick does a triple backflip and dances to Freddy Mercury.

  • Well yeah, how else do you think we eat meat, steak and beef etc. We're tearing through flesh then. Tehe

  • It'd be gross for sure but the average human bite is a lot stronger than it gets credit for. It'd be easy for us to bite off our own fingers (as easy as it is to bite a carrot) but out brain basically stops you from doing it because it's a dumb idea.
