Question about Gil's Pitstop
So something that's been bugging me and a few other Internet people has been Gil's Pitstop. It was an important location in 400 Days, and makes an appearance at the beginning of Season 2.
However, looking back at old pictures of the Pitstop, some differences in layout become clear. Here are some shots of the outside of Gil's Pitstop from 400 Days.
Off the bat some differences make it difficult to pinpoint what side of the building they are on, if it is in fact the same Gil's pitstop. So you have to use the actual Pitstop's sign as a way of finding out where they are approaching from. Not shown is also the fact that during Shel's Story you can see a bathroom door located on the inside of the diner. By this point I'd be completely convinced that it was just a different location and Telltale was either reusing assets or Gil's Pitstop was a chain, but then you have Russell's map which shows that he started from Statesboro and headed down Highway 16, the same Highway that is connected to Savannah. Considering Gil's Pitstop was along that Highway, it makes it at least plausible that it could be the same location.
So I'm wondering. Was it meant to be the same location? Is Gil's Pitstop meant to be part of a chain, so the appearances are different? Or was the layout changed due to changes in staff or the fact that it was a very brief presentation of the location?
Comments
Gil's Pitstop is probably a chain diner.
I'd guess it was just a discrepancy issue. I have no doubts it's supposed to be the same station. Ergo the link between the 400 days group/area and our current situation/group(running into 400 days characters)/area.
Yeah, they've been harking about how large a part 400 Days would play in Season 2 since, well, before Episode 2 was released. I know a lot of the staff changed between Season 1 and 2, so I'd be willing to say it's just a design oversight. Seems like a pretty big difference, though.
