Anyone have the Wii and PS360 version? Which one is better? Metacritic says the Wii one is superior (for once)!

I wouldn't get the Wii version, it can't handle the things that make Force Unleashed awesome as a game. This is not to say that the Wii is a bad system, I freakin' love Boom Blox and Endless Ocean. But the system isn't made for the kind of game that TFU is. It'd be like trying to put Super Mario 64 on the GBA.

I never trust Metacritic. They combine incompatible scores from various sources, scores with different grading schemes, and expect to get something accurate. Plus, the NUMBER is never what matters. Reviewers never can find a NUMBER that grades games from best to worst. There is no mathematical equation for fun.

Some of my favorite games tend to be some pretty obscure stuff. Stuff that gets a 6 or 7 our of ten from the sorts of sites that Metacritic compiles.

We are not going to find a small, niche title that nobody has ever heard of on the top of any reviewer's list, when the games are lined up from highest score to lowest.

Maybe I'd trust game reviewers if they stopped giving mainstream trash obscenely high scores.

Yeah the critic's reviews aren't that accurate... I think what makes it awesome is feeling like you're a sith, and the Wii controls can enhance that. At the same time, I feel like Lucasarts will make the same move that other developers have and the Wii and water down the experience. On the 3rd hand, I may not get the game at all even if on the end of my tongue the demo was fun... but I'm not sure that the game play would hold up for how-ever long the game is. It's all so confusing! And I'm getting tired of holding all these ideas up. :D

Well, now I've found some reviews from lesser know critics. Apparently, the PS360 game has great early levels, but meh later levels. The Wii Version gets repetitive and frusturating after the first hour because of the controls. But the Wii version has the multiplayer mode, which I have not found any reviews on. People are saying it's "Force Unleashed is a very good game that could have been great, had it not taken so many unnecessary detours." and "This is the best Star Wars story in years." Both from cnet.

That was my thought as well. I enjoyed the demo, but couldn't shake the feeling that the gameplay would get too repetitive. I haven't played the full game though, so I can't really say.

Looks like I'm getting the PS3 version at Toys R Us for a $20 dollar gift card.

The game isn't really that good. Lucasarts is a failure. They wasted their time milking the Star Wars name when they had some great adventure games. They haven't put out anything worth my time in nearly 10 years. 10 YEARS!

According to IGN, the Wii version is the best out of the game's seven versions. But I probably won't buy it because I'm not much of a Star Wars fan and they all got scores in the "7" range.

I can't belive you can't start with all your force powers and combos on the same level as the demo, which gave you practically no limitation! That's frusturating. Game is still good, not great so far.

I believe the addition of powers as you go along is called 'progression.' Most people seem to like progression.

Also, the demo did have 'limitations'... there's a lot more as you play through the full game.

Having completed the game a couple of days ago and deciding to nonetheless go through a second time (thanks largely to the fun new game+ like option offered) i can confidantly say that I seriously dig this game. I think i got hooked right at the beginning when i, as Vader, grabbed a ferocious wookie leaping at me from an impossible distance in mid air, force choked him and thew him into one of the other attackers :p

There are a few parts that can be frustrating if you dont level up properly and the targetting can be a bit troublesome at times (i didnt really find it any more troublesome than other games that use an auto targeting system, im not sure the tech is there yet) but the good parts far outweigh the bad. The story is fantastic, revealing a new layer the the stories we already know and adding some fertile ground for further creativity.

If nothing else the game is worth renting (imho the only reliable review source :p )
  • Hopefully telltale brings this guy on board to help write, he's a lord of Star Wars mythology.

    The story telltale's adapting
