Length Test

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

So I got my three friends to each do a play through of Season 1 Ep1-5, 400 Days, S2 Ep1+2 and they also played the first three episodes of TWAU. And these three friends have never played the episodes, they went in blind. I told them nothing of what to do.

Friend 1:
A New Day: Took him 113 minutes to complete
Starved For Help: Took him 132 minutes to complete
Long Road Ahead: Took him 148 minutes to complete
Around Every Corner: Took him 154 minutes to complete
No Time Left: Took him 89 minutes to complete
400 Days: Took him 79 minutes to complete

Faith: Took him 109 minutes to complete
All That Remains: Took him 93 minutes to complete
Smokes and Mirrors: Took him 78 minutes to complete
A House Divided: Took him 95 minutes to complete
A Crooked Mile: Took him 80 minutes to complete

Friend 2:
A New Day: Took him 126 minutes to complete
Starved For Help: Took him 120 minutes to complete
Long Road Ahead: Took him 135 minutes to complete
Around Every Corner: Took him 162 minutes to complete
No Time Left: Took him 86 minutes to complete
400 Days: Took him 88 minutes to complete

Faith: Took him 99 minutes to complete
All That Remains: took him 83 minutes to complete
Smokes and Mirrors: took him 75 minutes to complete
A House Divided: took him 90 minutes to complete
A Crooked Mile: took him 98 minutes to complete

Friend 3:
A New Day: took him 118 minutes to complete
Starved For Help: took him 130 minutes to complete
Long Road Ahead: took him 174 minutes to complete(was really bad at the hub areas in this one)
Around Every Corner: took him 150 minutes to complete
No Time Left: took him 92 minutes to complete
400 Days: took him 88 minutes to complete

Faith: took him 104 minutes to complete
All That Remains: took him 89 minutes to complete
Smoke and Mirros: took him 80 minutes to complete
A House Divided: took him 95 minutes to complete
A Crooked Mile: took him 75 minutes to complete

Friend 2 and 3 explored alot of things in their playthroughs.
What do you think about this?

    shug

Minus the hub areas, it's the same length. I don't see anything wrong with it unless you like to walk around and explore more. Not my cup of tea, since it really isn't what the game is supposed to focus on. If the story is great, I'm fine. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

  • Very interesting. So the 90 minute episode is actually a goal. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Funny thing, if the goal is for people to play it in one sitting, I know a lot of movies that hit the 2 hour mark without people leaving their seats. 120 minutes is a better goal than 90.

Personally don't know who told them one sitting entertainment is what gamer's want or is good idea never heard anyone complain a game was to long but seen so many when it's to short doesn't make sense to me especially when months waiting in between for a section of story. Definitely agree with you be happy with 120 and over

Yeah Season 1 had a lot of padding to it I don't know why people enjoy backtracking through Crawford halls like 3 or more times it's not all that fun. The story however is like the same length this cuts down on the unneeded parts and allows for more replayability which there IS more of in Season 2 considering you can have already have 2 of your cabin group dead and who all went with Tavia through 400 Days. There are more choices there then Save Carley or Doug and Save Ben or let him die.

  • Saw the title and thought this whole post was going to be some spambot ad for 'Male Enhancement.' I clicked on it because I saw replies and figured people were ripping on it.

Looks like the spambots came anyway though.

  • I wouldn't find the "one sitting feature" so bad if Telltale actually followed the 4-6 week time period. Like for Smoke and Mirrors, an episode that took 4 months to make and release, had a runtime of 90 min. If Smoke and Mirrors was 2-3 hours long, fans would feel more rewarded for their wait. But like I said, if the episodes were all 90 mins long, I wouldn't have a problem if they ACTUALLY took 4-6 weeks to develop. A House Divided took almost twice as long as Telltale predicted, and was 90 mins long. Don't get me wrong, A House Divided was a masterpiece. But waiting 77 days for an episode 2-3 hours long sounds like a better deal than waiting 77 days for an episode 90 mins long.

  • I came out to a size of around 5.5 inches. Oh wait

  • Omg, my bad for the title, though. Gave me a laugh

  • I was hoping I wasn't the only one. I didn't have the guts to mention it because I really felt like a pervert for thinking about it in... that way.
