do you trust the new group?

  • After my, kind of forced, replay last night, I tried to make the same decisions as I did during my first play. But playing it for a second time it struck me how shady these people are when it comes to their background. It made me reconsider some ot the choices I made before..

At least trying to get more info from them, which seems impossible. But on the other hand, they are there for you in this episode. Helping/saving you a few times. They probably did something bad, but that doesn't mean it's unforgivable.

Viva, how can you not remember when Nick fought off the walkers at the Brewery when you were trapped?

No, Viva: you can't prove that they wouldn't have done the same for you, nor can you prove that simply because you were there meant you were saved.

You continue ignoring the fact that she is wounded with an infected arm. If untreated, she could bleed out and die. Therefore, if she was a spy, running through the rain and mud, getting her wound more and more dirty, isn't going to help. She's dead.

    What are you talking about?

Imagine that shit going on in a bedroom banging on shit and things (it's going to smell you and want to get out). Hell, the game's walkers are much loader than that (couldn't find a vid though).

Stop being a smartass, that's my job XD

No it's not. You ignore the part where I said that they could kill her if she ISN'T turning. Leaving her in the shed meant that if she turned she turned and if she didn't, it's only a wound. They could easily mistake her going unconscious for beginning to turn, then Clem would be screwed. That's the effects of bleeding out.

No, but it has everything to do with reason. The reason that bringing her in the house is useless: she will still be denied medical supplies, so keeping her there would hardly make a difference.

When they're not actively or passively trying to get Clem killed

I suppose you mean the five or six times they saved her life? I guess that's what you mean.

Why the fuck would you trust any of these people? When they're not actively or passively trying to get Clem killed they're being shady as hell and refusing to give you straight answers about anything.

  • Ya know, I'm worried that Clem might not be able to trust anyone with the cabin keeping secrets and Carver trying to tell her something. I like the theme of trust this season. It can definitely tests one's relationships.

I trust them. I mean, I have no reason not to: they really didn't trust me when I first met them, but that was because they thought I could

You really should reference my sections like I do yours. It gets tedious going back and forth trying to match everything.

Viva, how can you not remember when Nick fought off the walkers at the Brewery when you were trapped?

I'm guessing that's if you tell Nick to come back with you to the cabin? I left without him, so he did no such thing for me. I'm sure if you link the video I can give points as to why it wasn't in protection of her, but I digress. Those actions never happened in my game, so they are not applicable to my group.

No, Viva: you can't prove that they wouldn't have done the same for you, nor can you prove that simply because you were there meant you were saved.

Not by them. And that's just it, it can't be proven so there is doubt. I have no reason to believe they would have searched for me had I gone missing, more to the point I have no reason to believe they would put their throat on the line when the time comes.

You continue ignoring the fact that she is wounded with an infected arm. If untreated, she could bleed out and die. Therefore, if she was a spy, running through the rain and mud, getting her wound more and more dirty, isn't going to help. She's dead.

No I didn't. You just didn't read into my response. It's not like "Oh your arms cut, you can't move," hell she wandered around the cabin for a good long while didn't she? If Carver's camp is 1 mile away and if that were true what reason would she have to stay there and face the group rather than leave and potentially get help/first aid from Carver and his group? Also referring back to the edited version - if they didn't care enough about her as a stranger to even let her in the house without the threat of the spy escaping (which makes no sense, but by your accounts that doesn't cross their minds) then I see no reason to trust them beyond need be after only a few short days. These people have been through a lot together, we are the Ben of the group right now, their priority is to themselves not to us.

What are you talking about? Imagine that shit going on in a bedroom banging on shit and things (it's going to smell you and want to get out). Hell, the game's walkers are much loader than that (couldn't find a vid though).

Look through ttg twd videos. Obviously there are a few with loud sounds for tension, but all of the regular walkers are low toned, shuffling, bumbling idiots. They aren't loud.

EDIT: Since when is smell a viable stimuli for these zombies? I know they have it and use it to differentiate alive from dead, but I've never seen it used 'at long range' or through walls or more importantly as a viable cause for reaction.

No it's not. You ignore the part where I said that they could kill her if she ISN'T turning. Leaving her in the shed meant that if she turned she turned and if she didn't, it's only a wound. Stop saying I'm ignoring things, you just aren't reading into the context of my posts. Also are we sticking with the locking her behind closed doors scenario we agreed upon or a letting her roam the house scenario? You need to make up your mind. They wouldn't see her faint, but another good point would be this: they didn't mistake her fainting the first time as her dying, I don't have reason to believe they would mistake it a different time.

No, but it has everything to do with reason. The reason that bringing her in the house is useless: she will still be denied medical supplies, so keeping her there would hardly make a difference.

The difference would be how they treated a wounded child. One with dignity and kindness and trust, or with distaste, untrust, and disrespect.

  • "If people can't trust you how can she trust them?" Clementine was practically interrogated when she showed up, but the group offered almost no information in return. Given that Carver was actively pursuing them, this is kind of understandable, but even when Clem convinced them that she wasn't working for Carver, they still consistently held out on her. Carver will likely try to drive a wedge between Clementine and the others by sharing this background information, making sure that it paints them in an unfavorable light. Clem will likely be forced to question where her allegiances lie.

Then again, maybe that's just my paranoid, realpolitik worldview talking.

Viva brings up a good point. They could at least given her treatment to her wound. If the wound was not treated that night Clem would of died for sure. Putting Clem out in the shed without treatment was basically condemning her to death to insure the cabin group's own survival. If anything if Clem was not able to escape that shed to save herself they might as well have shot her. They left her no choice by not giving her treatment.

I believe those actions were more out of fear than anything. I mean, they could have just as easily shot her in the head and be done with

Let's take them one by one.

Luke: Of course, he's put himself in the line of danger a lot for the group and treats Clementine as an equal of sorts. Hell, already in episode one when we were strangers he was arguing on our behalf. Plus he led the group out of Carvers corrupt society, that's gotta be even more good moral points.

Nick: How do I say this? I still don't trust him to screw things up. But I trust him not to screw me over. He does endanger himself to save you(detrimental) and his accident on the bridge is partially due to wanting to protect Luke And Clem. And he wanted to tell Walter too even taking into consideration everything. He's like Ben, but even kinder, braver, and more gun skilled(or with the rifle at least). He's not the type of person to run and leave a child out of fear.

Carlos: Common-sense wise he's an idiot, that much all of us know and make fun of. But he's still a doctor that probably has medical skills (slightly) better than anyone else's. And a good shot with the hand gun too. Now he was the one that suggested Clem be locked in the shed, preference of group safety over Clem's safety. But the moment Episode 2 started and Clem was like part of the group he showed almost Zero negativity towards her, and does "save"(arguable) her at one point and offer to keep her in the house while he and rebecca go out to search. As long he doesn't have to choose between saving us or Sarah we should be fine.

Sarah: What do I say about this?.....I trust her a bit more than I trust duck. Especially considering how you can "teach" her how to shoot. And she does treat us as friends even if we rejected her earlier. So much like a strange combination of Nick and Carlos. Let's hope she doesn't screw things up. And let's hope she isn't put in a position to choose between us and her dad.

Alvin: Survival-wise the guy is mostly useless and doe little to nothing, mostly just along for the ride like rebecca. That said, he is one of the only two possible group members who could steal for you supplies upon either convincing, pleading or black-mailing. So he's still useful in ways. I don't know how much he cares about Clem. Not as much Luke, Nick, Carlos and Sarah, that much is for sure I think. But still to quote Clementine. "I can tell that you're nice."

Rebecca: She sorta amended for her former cruelness by being kind for the rest of the way later. As for usefulness. She's almost completely useless, but that's to be expected for obvious reasons. She tells Clem her secret even if Clem doesn't know(or even if she doesn't know that Clem knows) so maybe she cares about Clem a bit more than Alvin does. I dunno.

Conclusion: Luke and Nick and Sarah(unless she's too scared) may disregard their own safety to protect/help Clem. Maybe Carlos too Maybe not. Alvin and Rebecca probably help Clementine only if it's not that dangerous to them. I don't think any of them will disregard the safety of their respective direct relative to save her though. All around I trust them very very well. Maybe slightly even more than Lee's Motel group.
