Am I the only one who's never seen the show before?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

I have literally never seen an episode of the television show, which has taken America by storm. However, I am IN LOVE with the video game. I'm not a big gamer, but this game has single-handily renewed my interest in video games.

But back to my point, have most of you seen or watch the show on a regular basis? Am I missing out?

Everyone in real life is always so shocked that I've never seen the show & tell me I'm missing out. Little do they know.. THEY'RE the ones missing out on such an excellent game/experience.

  • I watch both and love both. but if I had to choose id saw the game is better. the game is just to good.

  • i hadn't heard anything about the walking dead till the game was released but i got into the show and, for some people you might be missing out and you might not like it for me if i didn't watch it i would be missing out since i love the show, but it's just a matter of if you like the stuff the show has to offer :3 (game is better IMO :P)

  • I don't watch the show either. Not really interested.

  • Don't you worry! Youre not the only one, but I can say that I just did saw 2 episodes and it looked great to me. Stil, in my opinio.n the game is better

  • I have never watched the show either. And I'm also not a big gamer, it's really just TTG.

  • Yeah, I think I'll be same way (in reference to "it's really just TTG") - I think I might start playing "The Wolf Among Us" to hold me over until episode 3, It looks kinda good.

  • You should, it is good! I'm not a fan of "mistery solving" or anything like that, and I loved it. (Actually, I'm not a fan of zombies too. What's wrong with me?)

you should watch it if you feel the need to but I recommend reading the comics instead (I am not a comic book reader I read just twd) It is just so much better and it is actually based in the same universe as the game unlike the tv show

  • Just goes to show how great of a company TTG is. Lol

  • Eh, you're not missing out on anything.

I gave up on it a while ago.

  • Yeah, you're right. The amazing stories keep me so attached. :D

  • If you're gonna watch it. Don't be turned off from S2. It has it's ups and downs, I'm only on S3 but you can get the general gist. It starts to get less about the apocalypse and more about the relationships that survive in it.

  • i actually played the game before watching the show and reading the comics. all three parts of the entire walking dead franchise are good (in my opinion), but i do love the game the most. and i actually like the show more than i like the comics at this point.

  • I've been a fan of the show since it started and also love the games. But I'm not like, ooh one is better than the other. They both give me different enjoyable experiences. I have also read almost all of the comics.

  • How do you watch the show? The main thing that's been keeping me from watching is I hate starting things late. I have to start from the beginning, and the show is in it's 5th season I believe so idk.

I watch the TV show. In fact, I downloaded TWDG because I wanted some stupid random iPod game and I just searched the show's name to see if I found something interesting. But, much like you, this game has renewed my interest in video games in general. I'd buy a PS4 if I had any money and The Last of Us (which sound pretty similar story-wise to the Walking Dead) would probably be the first game I played.

  • Well 5th now. What I was saying was the 2nd season is regarded as boring and inactive out of them all.

  • No i understood everything you said. I meant like, do you watch the show on Netflix or online or what? My point was I want to watch the show, I just have to watch it from the beginning. & I currently don't know where to do that at.

  • Oh sorry :P. I have the disc sets. And I don't think Netflix has them unfortunately.

  • I don't give a shit about the show either, I'm only here for telltale.

  • Am i the only one who read the comics before the game and show came out?

  • Netflix has the first three season on instant watch. I liked season 2 so make up your own mind about that.

  • I like the show, but the game is amazing.

  • The show introduced me to the world of the Walking Dead, but it was the game that made me love it. I enjoy both now, but I probably like the game slightly more.

  • Just watch the first 2 season of the show, they're really good!!

But after that it goes a bit stupid and becomes a let down. Season 3 is just lame and so poor compared to the first 2. Season 4 isn't as bad but it's still fairly poor.

  • Did you just copy and paste someone else's post? lol

It's the exact same as the first in the thread, with the same grammar mistakes.

  • At first, I kinda ignored all TWD media, as I'm a total hipster scumbag. :P

After playing the game, I was led towards the show after I had introduced her to the Telltales game. I watched a recapping of the first 2 seasons, then the most recent episode, and I have a few issues with it. The #1 thing I don't really like about the show, is how easy the walkers are dispatched. There are also a ton of stupid moments that the characters have, and inconsistent ideals within them. So I'm not at all impressed by the T.V. series. The comic book, of course, should be praised for creating all of this in the first place. Kudos to Kirkman for making it, Darabont for making TWD a mainstream hit, and Telltales for crafting one of the finest narrative experiences in interactive media history.

  • You watched a recapping of the first two seasons but you didnt watch the episodes, and then you only watched the last season finale? Am I getting that right?

I watch the show just in case it gets better... It lost me after season one whenever it began to become cliche.

  • I dont know what that means.

  • You only watched six episodes out of over 40 so Im not sure if you gave it much of a chance.

  • I said i'm still watching it but I still don't have much faith in it. My point was, the only good episode come from season one besides the season four finale.

  • Thanks and in case I was misunderstood, if you want to watch the show that's fine, it's just not the kind of show for me and stepping back from being a fan has made me realize a few flaws in the production that I didn't even think about before doing so.

  • I dont mean to gloat but I was an original walking dead fan raised on the comic since issue #1 so naturally I have a love for all of the walking dead media and collectibles. The tv show is pretty good but I have to say the game is the best form of the walking dead. I still give my respect for the comic though because without it the game or tv show would of never existed.

  • I noticed other people recommending the comics and I agree I don't read comics usually it is the only one I read whenever a new issue is released and in my opinion it is way better than the show, although I'm not saying it isn't good however if I were to rank them it would be Game<Comic<Show

  • He's quoting stranger from the game.
